I just finished buying a 2500 movement Omega Planet Ocean 45.5mm with orange strap. Didn't know about the 8500 movement until I read this thread, did I pay too much for my 2500 movement with 3 year warranty? ...$37xx
thanks
Not at all. You are talking another 1.2-1.5+ if you want the 8500. The 2500 is also an excellent movement.
Thanks, I was worried I made a bad investment and I have 10 day period I can return the watch. I was just nervous because I saw many posts about people selling their 2500 PO for low $2k.
Well, as far as an investment, I wouldnt say any watch is a 'good' investment except maybe a Patek or certain Rolex models. Even then, there are better investments to make IMO. So it should be more about enjoyment. The 2,000 to 2,500 sales you see are ones with the 2xxx caliber; the 8500 caliber start at around 4,000 to 4,500 from what I've seen on forums. I love both Omega and Breitling (not a big Rolex guy)...largely for different reasons given you see how clean the flush the PO is (the PO Chrono is also really nice) and how 'action-packed' the Navi is. They are two iconic watches and while they do depreciate, the value won't flatline. The older Omega SMPs are awesome watches, but the PO has really taken it up a notch in terms of every measurable point. It's quality is exceptional. You should definitely get a few custom straps made, and IIRC the lug width on both watches are the same, meaning you can use one strap on the other and vice versa.
