I was vacationing in Cozumel last week, and came across this piece. I fell in love with it...didn't buy it as Mexico's import taxes are ridiculous high, and thought that a trip to Barbados would help settle this acquisition.

Back in my hotel room, I thought I'd do some research at the Source, and was amazed that mostly everything came back negative. Guys that I look up to on this site where almost ashamed of this release.

Am I the only one who likes this watch?

I know that personal opinion should rule here, but one often seeks accordance and acceptance from his peers as a defensive mechanism to prelude making a bone-head move, no?

Thanks.

Well I guess red rubber bezels are a matter of personal choice, but......

The entire heritage of a chrono-matic is a left hand crown.

I owned two of the 'less ugly' chronomatic-49's and while I thought they were really sporty they were just way too large. If it was a 44mm piece I would have kept them but at 49mm it wore like a dinner plate on my wrist. The photo of the one you posted with the red rubber bezel is horrendously awful; an absolute abomination of a watch.

I prefer my red by the dash and not the splash.

Agree with Serge, and that's twice this year!

Happy new year all.

One more thumbs down here. There's just no character to it, no identity. Looks like it should have a Timex logo on it.

49mm... Jeez and I thought my Emergency was big! I think the reason why it is not well liked is that it goes with the seemingly current fashion of watches being totally massive for no reason other than a marketing thing... if a footballer wears a watch, then best be a big one so it has a product endorsement.

The rubber bezel is also a bit of a turn off, especially when you see the sort of bezels that Breitlings have on their other watches.

But then again if we all liked the same thing it would be a boring world of course.

Quite often, when too much tinkering, tweaking, finetuning,
etc., are performed, it undermines products. A perfect ex-
ample was when Coca Cola changed the original formula, &
presented a new version that the public crucified. It was
forced to re-release the original, boldly labeled Coke Classic.
I believe Rolex burped with some new release(s) this year,
proving certain products will be indigestible no matter what.

Yes, you are the only one who likes that watch. Lol.

That being said, who cares what we think?...if you like the watch, then get it.

I don't really have a huge hate for it, it's just not appealing at that price. Now if it was $500 and I had my choice between it and a Tag, it would probably look a bit better. I'm also ok with big watches so the size is not a deal breaker for me.... so I agree, if you like it, get it.

IMO the size is way too large unless you have a massive wrist, the rubber isn't going to wear as well as steel, and the red pops out at you so much that it will clash with certain outfits. IMO it's not a good daily-wear Breitling.

Perhaps it wasn't love after all. Maybe infatuation. Hopefully it'll pass.

Thanks for your insight, gentlemen.

Happy new year to you all.

One thing to note is that the red rubber bezel gets very dirty and I doubt it will be easy to clean.

Go for one of the more normal Chrono-Matic 49's, or the 1461 if you can get one. I'm more than happy with mine......................
