when I saw the back of this one.

The guy lists it as a genuine strap but not a genuine watch - so not sure if it's worthy to be reported, is the strap real?

Selling a counterfeit even if you acknowledge it's a counterfeit is against eBay rules, so although he's being honest about the watch he is in breach. If the strap is genuine you could argue that he's chucking the watch in and not technically selling it, but he does say the auction is "mainly" for the strap so he's on the naughty step.

Yes, well........... He is selling the watch strap, and the actual watch is thrown in for good measure. He indicates the watch is not genuine and is only advertising the strap on the listing header. Slightly naughty maybe, but is it against the rules? I think he would only be in breach if the watch was perported to be genuine, which it is not. Interesting method of selling really, he gets rid of the strap and a troublesome watch too. Wonder which one he was more keen on getting shot of? Why not sell just the strap!

Strap is genuine and no scam with the watch.
Nothing to report for me.

As I said above, the guy is being completely honest so it's not a scam, but it is a technical breach of eBay rules.

He says that "This auction is mainly for the genuine strap", therefore implying that it's at least partly for the watch.

eBay states re counterfeits: "Sellers should make sure that their items are authentic before listing them on eBay. Sellers may not disclaim knowledge of, or responsibility for, the authenticity or legality of the items they offer in their listings. If a seller cannot verify the authenticity of an item, it can‘t be listed on eBay."

I.e., even acknowledging that something is fake doesn't permit you to sell it on eBay.

So like I said, it's morally fine but technically a breach. I agree it'd be a hard heart which reported it. If he was explicit that he was giving the watch away he'd be in the clear: it'd be the same as all those auctions for vintage port which specify that you are buying a nice old dusty bottle and not its contents...

If eBay doesn't care and Breitling doesn't care I see no reason to care. No risk of anyone being scammed which is the real issue for me.
