I know Admin doesn't like eBay links in case of shill bidding (so feel free to bin this post if you want Admin), but I just thought I'd share this find with you all -

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... %26fvi%3D1

If ONLY I had the cash! Check out the way the limited edition number (in this case No. 16) is printed on the dial too! Awesome stuff.

Discipline, Driver, discipline!

Here's something to think about. Imagine you miraculously got
the cash together to buy the Olympus (Yes, damn it, it's beautiful!) and you're
taking your wife -- girl friend? -- out for a celebratory dinner. With
the piece riding magnificently on your wrist, you're looking at it, not where
you're walking, and wham bam! you slip, fall, dragging that
lovely gold piece across the brick wall of the restaurant.

You can almost feel the soft gold being ground off the case.
After getting to your feet (you're not hurt!) you finally have the nerve to look
at the watch... You can fill in the rest of the story, Driver.

I hope this little tale of woe helps convince you -- and the rest of us who lust for gold -- that it just aint worth it. :?

Steve

Steve, you're fast becoming my moral guiding light on here..... the angel on my shoulder speaking words of reason (and keeping me from having to sleep on my girlfriend's couch), while the little Breitling devil (you know... the one with the really loud voice) sits on the other!

The softness of gold is the only thing that really puts me off ever buying one..... (oh and that little thing called "PRICE" as well!)

But anyway this Olympus QP is WAY outside my price range..... and my g/f would probably relegate me from sleeping on the couch to a small bed of nails with a blanket of stinging nettles and a pillow of barbed wire if I ever spent that much!

Steve,
I reckon somebody who can afford 25k for a watch, should be able to afford a couple grand to fix it. But yeah, that grinding sound would be forever etched into my brain.

Damn good price for what it is, and a very trustworthy seller - someone's going to get a deal there.

Have to agree with the practicality comments about gold though, don't I? Thank goodness it isn't a DB!!

You know, I gotta say, it's a nice watch and all, but I don't think I'd ever want to by one... There's a lot of things I'd rather spend the money on.

Maybe it's the 20 year old in me, I don't know.... :?

nice though it is, the gold bentley on gold bracelet I tried on in sol-time while on holiday (40k dollars) was nicer and I could read the dial...I'm fast approaching 45 and I'd need Bifocals for the olympus!....well thats my reason and I'm sticking to it
