Hello.

First a disclamer: I am a Quality Assurance Engineer for a major healthcare company, so I am much more "picky" than most.

Yesterday I found a small inprofection on my 2 week old seawolf. It is a speck of paint missing off the "5" It is not visable with out magnification, but is very visable under 10x.

I understand that the seawolf is a low end Breitling, but it is still a $4K watch.

Should I send it back and get repaired, or wait and do it right before warenty is to expire?

i'll try to get a pic of it.

Joe

If it has an imperfection then get it fixed - if it's serious enough to bother you then why live with it for 2 years and risk Breitling suggesting that it was a misuse issue?

It dosent really bother me, I would want it fixed so it dosent effect resale.

I just don't want repair to take months. I love my seawolf, and don't want to be without it.

If you plan to keep the watch for a while, one alternative is sending Breitling pictures via email and getting a written response saying they will repair it when it is sent in at a later time, if they are willing to do that. If they aren't, I'd send it in given the out of pocket cost to replace a dial is some serious bank.

I think the bigger problem is that your 5 has fallen over on its side. Fives should look like this, 5.

Crazy? Yep, a little bit.

I wouldn't be bothered with imperfection minor as that.

Hi, Joe. Well, I'm not a psychiatrist so I can't offer a diagnosis for you. :| As for the imperfection on the "5", I'm guessing it is the small dark spot near the top of the outer half circle? :? If not, you'll have to specify the imperfection a little better, please. Bear in mind the C3 Superluminova is hand applied to the numerals on Breitling dials which are in the opinion of many some of the finest dials in the industry. I have also taken a 10X loupe to my Breitling dials and found the hand applied lume to have very, very, very, very, slight imperfections which I personally accept as normal. I agree with Bnewbie that I wouldn't be bothered at all by what you describe. That said, the SW isn't my watch and you are the one who has to live with it. You might consider visiting your AD with loupe in hand to closely examine other examples before you ask for a dial replacement. I can tell you that I have found a dial imperfection on one of my Breitlings after the warranty period for a service expired (should have louped it when I got it back from service) but I will not pay the expense of a dial replacement at next service. Just too darn expensive for something so minor which I never notice unless I'm looking for it. Had I noticed it while under warranty I would have sent it back immediately but I have to tell you, it's much worse than what I can see on your photo.

Whatever you decide, I would not recommend waiting until near the warranty expiration for disposition/resolution. If it bothers you now, it will bother you throughout the time you own the watch. Just my .02 worth...
Best,
Ron

When you do sell it, just don't take a 10x photo of that exact spot.

If I was buying it 2nd hand and that's the only issue it had, I'd be happy. :-)

Personally it wouldn't bother me now or if I was buying that watch second hand. But it's your watch and it's a lot of money so you should be happy and satisfied with it. If it bothers you, definitely send it in.

I think Avenger Seawolf has no Superluminova applied on numerals

Correct. These are machine applied paint.
It really dosent kill me. I was really just wondering if this is normal in this level of watch.

Really, it's up to you given you spent a few grand on a watch, but to me I would just call that a variation more than an imperfection. While it wouldnt personally bother me, you're the owner and BUSA is a pretty nice group to work with, so what to do is your call.

It wouldnt bother me, since id probably never notice it. Id guess that any high end watch would have some extremely minor imperfection if you really wanted to find one. And id venture to guess that the more "hand-made" the watch is, the more likely that there would be an imperfection present.

But its your watch, so if it bothers you, let Breitling know about it and see if theyll do anything about it.
