Ok if you don't drench the dang thing, it is highly unlikely the color will bleed onto the stiching. I'm all about prudence but really how about doing something - like testing a small area under the keeper, an area that would be covered anyway in normal use? Sometimes we can get a bit carried away in complexity when a simple test will let you know if there is even an issue in the first place.

Hi, thanks for the advice, i found out something strange about the colour of my blue strap but it's almost invisible. I walked under bright sunlight today and i realised that i can see a very light dirty green colour at the middle of the strap ( the part where the calf skin pops ), it is almost invisible under most lights. I hand it to my sister and she looked at it for several minutes and told me that she only see blue and no other colour. Strange, i don't think it's the reflection.

If the Apple works like some things such as Leather Honey, getting the material on the stitching will have minimal affect. Does the Apple actually remove the blue from the leather strap? If you wipe a towel over a freshly done area, what color is the residue on the towel?

How can it remove the colour of it darkens it, i haven't try the wiping you suggested. But there are some light blue stains at the cotton stick. This product is actually quite good, i have been using it for several years on my leather made montblanc wallet, mom and sis also burrowed them to polish their bags.

I had my wallet for 7 years and it looked old, i used apple leather care and my wallet looks shiny and darker than the original colour.

The kti comes with 2 products, leather care and leather cleaner. Apply leather care liquid on it, wait for it to dry and finish it with apple leather cleaner.

http://cruisingfor.blogspot.sg/2009/10/ ... -care.html

At the end some of the white stiches did came into contact with the blue blue liquid but it remains white after drying.

That was why I asked...I had a feeling they designed the product to not stain stitching given that all leather has to be stitched, and often a different stitch color is used from the leather itself. I've not used that product but I've used a few different ones designed to darken and not darken and found that none seem to affect stitch color, including Bick4, Leather Honey, Saddle Leather, among others.

Worst case scenario, if it did mess up the coloration of the stitching somewhat, you could try diluted peroxide dabbed on using a toothpick...most likely that will do nothing but it's mild so always try it first. Then, you could try using bleach. If you do, make sure it is either a diluted pen or make your own diluted mix...if it were me I would start as weak at 1:10 bleach to water and continue to slowly increase strength until I get the desired results...the reason for this is because pure Clorox could be pretty rough on both the leather and cotton. Again, take a toothpick, dabb it in the solution, and gently put it on the cotton stitch while trying to avoid the leather (usually a weak solution works well and works quickly). This method can also be used to refinish dirty stitches. Another possibility is a cleaner and protectant made by Veraet, which I've used to clean dirty stitching and dirty leather all in one and it is what I use on my non-exotic straps to clean them.

Hi but there's a problem now, there are some dirt at the middle part of the leathet ( the part where it pops ), i can only see it under bright sunlight or use a torch light to shine at it. I took a picture to show u guys, i use my products 10 times and the dirt color won't go away, i highly doubt it has to do with the apple products, only on that area, the rest is fine.

I just bought this strap, could it be that the seller kept this strap for too long ? I also pinch the thick area to test the material, but i doubt pinching can cause this to happen.

I can't really see what you are talking about specifically as the pic is blurry. Are you sure it isn't standard variation in how leather is finished and dyed?

The length in which someone owns a strap is really not applicable given care and usage affects it more than sheer age.

Umm...that in itself is probably part of the problem. My guess is that you are seeing the same issue if you do multiple successive coats of paint without letting it fully dry, which results in layers being shaved off. It may also be areas where so much is caked on the inner layers of the treatment have deformed.

Did you treat it 10x because you weren't getting the color you wanted? It might be worth having a custom strap made...there are makers that can make them to Breitling specs at the same quality, but they can use a variety of colors and materials.

Our law student's posts are consistently humorous. I mean really dude I'm sorry about the strap, but ... :)

LOL sharkman, is there any way to improve the color of the damaged area, it looks black now.

If this cannot be repaired, i am getting a light blue baby alligator horback strap.

Maybe buying dark blue leather dye helps ?

Here's a radical idea seeing as justabout everything that you try either goes wrong, leads you to ask ridiculous questions, or (most commonly) both - just order a custom strap the way that you want it!

Roff, I'm sure the custom strap will be imperfect and lead to another posting avalanche.

Probably, and it's likely not fair on the strap maker to have to deal with our favourite law student.
