Now, that I have time, I can report, that we had a holdup today. Three men entered the store, one with a gun, one with an axe, one just watching from the door. The guy with the pistol yelled "holdeup, everyone lie on the floor" the axeowner smashed the inside windows of the shopwindows, grabbed most Omega, Breitling and Zenith watches, put them in a bag and they fled. Took them only about 1,5 minutes.
Luckily for us, many people outside the store realized the situation and one "hero" even kicked the bagcarrier and recovered all the merchandise. So we have just smashed windows, scratched watches and a horrible shock. Besides a few scratches, nobody got hurt.
While lying on the floor, I used my mobile to call the police emergency hotline, which I surprisingly reached immediately and told the name and location of the store and that we have a holdup. The lady on the other side just said, that I would have to talk louder and clearer, otherwise she could not understand me. I repeated my sentence a little bit louder (Had a man with a gun only 5 meters and a counter from me!) and she hung up.
Bad thing, we have so tight guncontrol laws, otherwise I would have been in a perfect position to shoot the asshole with the gun.
Lots of work, one day without sales, still lucky...

BG
Thomas

:yeahthat Very lucky no-one was hurt, and ultimately that's the main thing in situations like this.

Gotta be extra careful during the holidays... a lot of scumbags out there getting desperate. Thank God everyone was okay though.

Sorry to hear and glad everyone is okay.

Are you in the US? If you work with cash deposits (which it sounds like you do), virtually every state except like 2 will issue a CCW or concealed carry weapon permit in which you can then carry a pistol concealed on your person. If you own the property, you can carry open when on your own land in almost all states. Although for a brick and mortar shop, I would also advise a shotgun with 00 buckshot or (ideally) an AR-15 with .223 urban tac (frangible) rounds as well given that packs a lot more firepower and carries tremendous visual intimidation.

Wow that's terrible, very sad to hear that but glad everyone is ok. It's been a rough day for you and for a lot of people here in the US with a massacre in Connecticut.

It seems you were not the only one that morning. Found the story about "your" holdup in the internet: http://www.heute.at/news/oesterreich/wien/art23652,835224
Glad nobody got hurt.

Bummer :(

we just saw on Friday how wonderful the lenient gun control laws in the US are.
what a great idea to have a gun fight on one of the busiest squares in Europe,
hundreds of Christmas shoppers turning from watchers to victims.

Please understand I'm not saying US gun laws are without issues. There are huge issues with US gun laws (and gun violence), but that is another topic.
