I use the ones made by SPIGEN SGP from amazon on my phone and they work great. Surface feels the same and the screen in as clear as it is when its bare.

Ive had every iPad version including the mini and never use a screen protector. I always use one on my iPhones but NEVER on an iPad and I refuse to put one on.

I read about the gorilla glass of iDevice products & thought that my iPad 1 didn't need a screen protector since I have a nice carbon fiber cover with micro-suede inside lining which nicely clean my screen too boot each time I open & close the cover.

That is, until I went to Bali and some sand particles must have inadvertantly been trapped between the screen & cover... A couple long scratches and now my iPad 2 & 3 use protectors... YMMV

Bit late to this one, but I say go without protection (in this instance at least)!

I've had iPads since the first model came out, travelled with them frequently and carried them around every day, never bothered with a screen protector and never regretted it. My iPad 1 was still in good enough condition to bring a quick $400 on eBay after about 2 years of use, and it wasn't exactly kept in cotton wool.
