well, i stopped by a local ad today and talked with the 'watch expert'. (ive bought here before) unlike most stores i have been in by me. he actually knows his stuff. we started talking about watches/ the ones i was looking at etc. he was "impressed" by my general knowledge on all of the models they carried etc and thats when he offered that up. said he would be interested in having me work there on saturdays.

i dont really need a second job or particularly want one. but if i could get set up as a saturday only, or fill in guy for saturdays, might be nice?

now, my MAIN drive is the possibility of employee discounts? i have heard of some of these ridiculous discounts the manuf. sometimes offer up. and of course making money by selling/being around watches!!.

i have never worked in sales. BUT i could sell sand to the beach. im not particularly worried about that aspect of it, since im not trying to do this for a living etc.

so does anyone know about employee discounts? how it works etc?

also, how do people get paid at these places? commision? hourly?

please feel free to pm me with any info.. or post. thanks

I would have to figure it all depends on the AD. But one thing I would heavily assume is that they would limit employee purchases with a discount to prevent flipping.

Which is fine by me. I'm not looking to get into scamming the system to flip watches.. I'm a big believer in karma. I try to stay on its good side. :) I'd be ecstatic if I could get watches at cost or close to it etc for my own collection.

Go for it! What have you got to lose? You can always stop when it's no longer fun -- and you'll at least have a cool experience to go with your WIS hobby ;)

Do it, and if you don't like it, quit.

Personally my days off are few and far between and so the thought of a 2nd job makes me lapse into coma just from exhaustion.

BUT if you've got nothing else to do on Saturdays then go for it! Would be great fun, and the possibility of a discount and some extra $$ to put directly towards watch purchases would be nice.

Usually you wont get "watches" at cost. Unfortunately, youre subject to the same restrictions as us lay people. Usually the different manufacturers/reps will do something like a once a year purchase where you get to buy one watch at some big discount (50% off or something).

Of course if your employer wants to bend the rules, theres always that option as well.

well thats the thing, depending on time of year etc. i work saturdays. so its not something i could sign up for "every saturday" i was thinking more of a fill in guy, 1 or 2 days a month? actually the more i think about it, the cons are definately out weighing the pros..... lol.
