appears to be a correct and nice late 60s ref. 2211, would like to see caseback and movement
pics to say anything definite, of course.

 did not see these, Rich.

caseback almost too good at first glance, frankly.

very much doubt this is the original caseback, outer inscription looks nice, but very fishy in large magnification.

would like additional opinions.

Seller has pertty good...no great feedback, what gives you concern? Not saying it is original as I know next to nothing...but movement looks good. Just trying to learn here. Is it one of those things that if it seems too good to be true it is?

Fred I was questioning the irregular script on case back. It looks awfully shaky!!!!! I placed an offer then retracted it. Shame on me for not checking with you first. I retracted it before I placed the item on forum.

Interesting piece. Looks very nice apart from the outer caseback - even the inner caseback looks right. I wonder whether the outer caseback has been re-engraved??? very odd, but I would walk away.

Rick, the watch is authentic, assume the caseback was massively scratched and refinished, seller had the engraving "restored" - huge effort, but ......

edit, as Roff posted while I was writing - quite clearly re-engraved, would walk too.

This is how the caseback engraving should look: :lingsrock:

Says on the ebay site the watch has never been restored or polished. He must be blind because he has a history of selling alot of watches.

I guess collectivly you all don't know squat  Looks like we all need to inform ourselves better.

I asked this:

Code:
The engraving on the case back does not look correct. Can you please tell me any history about the watch? How are you sure it is 100% original. Did you have any contact with the original owner? Thanks!

and got this in return.

Code:
Hello
Yes it is an original Breitling.
Please try to inform yourself better.
Just seeing the original watches.
regards

OK, so consensus view of some people here with no stake in the piece and who would appear to have demonstrated some small amount of knowledge vs. the word of the guy trying to flog it.

Well, caveat emptor I guess!

Sorry guess I forgot my <Sarcasm></Sarcasm> tags, thought it was pretty obvious I was joking. For the record I am not suggesting you all don't know squat thus the "wink". I also thought his reply was rather funny. Did not post it in an attempt to state it was in fact 100% original
