Roff, here was the email response from BUSA:

"Pertaining to the COSC certificate, all new watches have now this certificate which you have receive your new watch with and guarantees that your watch was COSC certified."

Cost saving measure?

Now, the way I read it, the eWarranty is to guarantee that the watch was COSC certified, nothing to do with the watch warranty and booklet which I'd assume still comes with the set of papers.

Yes, you are correct. The eWarranty is only a guarantee that the watch meets COSC standards. The warranty and booklet were included. I am having BUSA write me a letter to verify that this is in fact a "proper" COSC ceritification (for a picture please refer to prior page).

Hello,
This E-warranty white sticker on the Cosc Certificate is true. :real:
I lost my previous Cosc certificate for an Avenger chrono in titanium and in October 2012 I asked the Paris Breitling Boutique to re-issue a new Cosc Certificate (70€)
So I got mine yesterday, with this white E-Warranty identification sticker on it. (Cosc certificate and the serial number of my watch).

I asked them why this Cosc certificate is so different from the previous ones (for an "old watch") and they told me that it was for "security reasons" and it's not only a sticker, it's more.
But I can not explain it here (not allowed to), you all will discover it in 2013 I hope.

See My New Cosc certificate below given by the Breitling Boutique in France, Paris

If you look on the backside of the document and hold the white sticker up to the light, you can see some sort of thin, circular metallic wire that almost looks like the integrated window radio antenna found on today's cars. This wire appears to be between the affixed sticker and the front of the document. It is just not a basic white label. Maybe there is an added measure of security that is not visible to the eye? Either way, if I had the answer, I wouldn't have needed to create this thread. Thank you for everyone's input.

Hello,

You are on the right direction, a new Cosc certificate with more security on it

Perhaps they are planning on implementing something similar to Rolex...I think I understand where the 'e' designation comes from now...and if that is where it comes from, then mad, mad props to Breitling.

Well, if it's increased security, then that's definitely a good thing. I'll certainly be interested to hear what that additional security is as on th face of it, a sticky label doesn't seem like a step forward. But if there is more to it, then that's good news!

Although the sticky label might be more than just that however on the photos it looks just like sticky label. My concern is that this might actually increase on-line fraud opportunities.
It will be virtually impossible to tell the difference from photos between a genuine COSC certificate with a sophisticated security device in the label and one with a dodgy stick on label.
Just some early thoughts based on what I see here at least.

I think they are going to make a change to the watch that will make them very easy to authenticate. If it is what I think then it will be spectacular. The COSC cert will just be supporting documentation. It may also be what is used to create initial inventory and reissue papers, if need be.

Thank you for validating my COSC question! Your replacement COSC looks EXACTLY like the one I posted at the start of my Discussion Thread. Looks like Breitling is in fact making some changes to the certificate appearance. It is definitely not just a basic white sticker. :real:

I have had a close look at one of these new certificates and the sticker is a TAGSYS RFID label - it is more than just a simple antenna within it!

http://www.tagsysrfid.com

What information it contains and who/how it is accessed, i do not know.
