Hi guys,

My father-in-law is a jeweler. His specialty is mounting diamonds. With the gold/diamond prices and economic situations being as they are he was forced to pawn his Breitling about a year ago. I didn't know about it until it was too late.

For X-Mas I want to replace his watch for him. I would really like to get him the same exact thing but don't feel I have the real specs yet.

Here is the best picture I could find:

Image

I am researching but what I can tell so far is that the watch is:

Steel bezel & case w/gold riders (B)
Two-Tone Rouleaux (Bullet) Bracelet
Finish seems brushed (not sure)
White Dial w/Gold Sub-Dials
Gold Crown/Buttons
Date at 3 o'clock

I cannot figure out what model (even series) or year made. I think it's a Windrider because of the Rouleaux bracelet. I know he had the watch before late 2002 when I met him.

Any help on finding the specs/model/year of this watch would be greatly apprecated.

Thanks,

CK

It's definitely a caliber 13 based Windrider, looks like an early Chronomat.

Thanks. By "caliber 13 based" you mean the movement right?

May I tactfully recommend you get the pawn ticket
& bail his treasured watch out of detention. If you
cannot, try negotiating with the pawnbroker. Haggling
is common worldwide, & manages to get things done.

I appreciate your help but it's too late aka "gone". Also, I believe it was a handshake deal so there would be no ticket to get the model number from. Further, I wouldn't want to ask him or my mother-in-law anything about it because they would insist I just let it go. Knowing the conclusion of that discussion, I am going straight for the surprise.

Your pic is hard to see details, but if you remember anything about it, try this link to chronomat history, may be of some help (?)

Material: I realize they made the Rouleaux band in polished and satin steel and I'm quite sure it was satin/brushed. I also remember that the case was all brushed (not brushed bezel and stainless bottom).

Dial: Geneva (1984 81950) should be out because the wings are not centered in the dial in my picture. From the picture I think the sub-dials have the bent edge and no trim (ie before 13050). I still am not sure if the dial says 1884 (13048) or not (13047). Since I cannot find an example anywhere of the B13048 with white/gold dials I am going to call it a 13047.

Second Hand: From the picture I cannot see if the second hand has the anchor. As you can see below they made the dual labeled 81.950/B13047 with and without the anchor second hand. So basically I would have to "see" the anchor or not to determine which version of the B13047 I need.

Maybe one of your more trained eyes can tell if if the second hand anchor is present or no...

I appreciate that. I am getting pretty good. I could tell it was a 13050 before reading the description hehe. Sub-dial trim, 1884 and larger date window. So it's a couple generations newer than what i think I need. That being said the watch is superb. An upgrade from what he had. I might take a run at this one if the seller will consider selling out of country. Again, Thanks!

My apologies & regrets, & hope you can locate a viable replacement.

I am pretty sure the watch is at 12:35. That jives with the original file details. Assuming he kept his stop watch reset at 0:00, then it appears that any second hand anchor is not visible to the right of center between the center of the dial and the top of the 6 o'clock sub-dial.

I cannot find an example of a Rouleaux (Bullet) Bracelet where it has the gold inserts on the second bar like in his picture. Maybe he modified it? It could be unoriginal but I can find any of those either.

Do you know what I mean about the two gold ring inserts always starting on either the first or third "bullet"? This one starts on the second.

I know I am knit picking hehe... But thanks.
