Hello to all-

I'm looking to purchase my father a Navitimer 01 Limited Edition. When the timepiece first was introduced last year with the Calibre 01 and that beautiful crystal back it seemed like something really special. A real collectible. It was also 1mm larger than the standard Navitimer.

Now, the standard Navitimer 01 has the same in-house movement, minus the crystal back and the same 43mm as the Limited edition. Is there any reason I should buy the Limited edition over the standard? It doesn't mean anything to me that there are only 2000 Limited and the crystal back is a very nice feature (and one not found in most watches under 10k) but I can getter a better deal on a standard Navitimer 01. I would be buying a black face regardless, so the different faces on the standard don't apply to me.

I would very much appreciate any and all opinions.

Thank you

I would have to think its all preference in terms of aesthetics as you said. Other than that the LE MIGHT command a little (like a tad) more on the pre-owned market should you sell it.

Otherwise it's all in the packaging IMO.

Exactly, other than aesthetic differences it's an identical watch so down to what you think is better value for money. Resale won't be significantly different, especially in percentage terms (higher initial cost will mean higher dollar resale cost for the LE). If you are looking new the LE is likely to be harder to find as well.

Buying your father a Breitling - wow, really nice gesture. I bought my dad an Omega once. Best thing I ever bought my dad.

I'm sure he will love either one. I've owned both and both are great.
