another one that makes me scratch my head, more than that, it might
prove me (and many others) wrong, who claimed these watches were
never produced by Breitling or under the Breitling Datora branding.

Seller claims 1969, which it isn't, serial no. would date it to 1965,
the script "B" on the caseback COULD be a bit off, hands are a type
I never saw on a Breitling, the dial looks a bit too good to be true,
the chrono hours subdial at 6 MIGHT show signs of refinishing -
but overall pretty convincing.

all the identical watches we have seen under different brands
had "Charles Gigandet" marked as the manufacturer inside the
caseback, this one has Breitling stamped; there is no WOG,
although it should be there until 1967.

Why this model should have remained under the radar for almost
50 years is the real question, Breitling did a lot of adverstising in
the boom years of the mid 60s, had the Raquel Welch, James Bond
and various other product placement campaigns - catalogs were
published around the globe and remain available until today -
nowhere was this model listed ........

 egg in my face - or a master Frankenfaker ?

Well I wouldn't buy it (even if the world's longest and most expensive kitchen renovation had left me with any money).

The super size picture seems to show a lack of sharpness on the dial - look especially at the dates and the bottom of the B on the caseback lacks the gap between the upright and the bottom curve.

There are a lot of things about this one that we haven't seen before, not just one or two elements and to me the old adage of 'if you hear hooves think horses not zebras' applies.

wouldn't buy it either, the dial does show some small signs of a redial,
positions you mention and the border between the white subdial and the black dial
at 6 - also I just can not imagine this model would have remained undocumented
for half a century - I do not believe in prototypes.

but if it is a fake, it is frighteningly good - and I would love to know who
did this dial - might be the long awaited source for legitimate projects.

the crown for the longest kitchen renovation is still mine, Roff -
you are not yet 6 months overdue, just waiting for the missing
countertops ....

The font for the month and day seems different on the original example in this post than the wakmann above

Michael, the dial on the "original" in the OP is refinished, when u look exactly most/all fonts are wrong.
"good" work, but fraudulent.

Bill has also pointed out here viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43367 that u can see inside the caseback where the Charles Gigandet has been removed.

after several attemts w/ BIN sales it is now listed without a reserve,
afraid it will sell for a tidy sum.
