Chronomat 44 GMT

Been thinking about adding another Breitling to my collection and was thinking about the Chronomat GMT model.
I know there are 2 sizes of this watch 47mm and 44mm, have only tried on the 47mm version but am afraid my wrists just cannot carry it off. Looked great though with the polished bezel and case.
So the logical step is the 44mm version but my AD doesn't have one in stock at the moment but from looking at the pictures it looks like a satin finish bezel, polished case and bracelet - am I right in thinking that?
Also, anyone any thoughts on the in-house 04 movement? Some serious money for me so would appreciate any opinions. Thank you

Today i tried on both sizes. The 44 was the one that looked best on my wrist. My wrist is 7 1/2" circ.

IMO the 47-48mm watches look too large on most average sized wrists and extended wear on an overly small wrist is not comfortable because the watch is literally too long to allow the band/strap to conform without some open space between the lugs and where the strap makes contact...that leads to play which with a heavy watch can be unpleasant. I have a friend who has the same size wrist as me (6.5 - 6.75 in.) and he has the Super Avenger. IMO it looks odd and it's the first thing your eye focuses on when you look at him as it is so large compared to everything else about him. Literally, the watch overpowers everything else, as it looks like it is as tall as his actual wrist. He also wear it super loose, which I am unable to understand how.

On the flipside, a smaller watch on someone with a bigger wrist/body frame does not look as good IMO as a larger watch as the larger size looks more proportional and commanding. If you think about it, 44mm is in itself a pretty sizable watch for most wrists and it fills the available real estate of the top of the wrist nicely with a sizable but not silly presence. For ultra small wrists, the 41 may even fit better. IMO the 44mm has a nice presence for a wide array of wrist sizes.

Looks like the 44mm is the one for me. Big jump up in price for the in-house 04 GMT movement though.
Apart from 70h power reserve, date change etc. is the 04 movement worth spending all that money on?
It's over £7k here in the UK

The 04 movement is basaically 01 with the GMT complication added.
I have been very happy with the 01 in my watches so far and it is a very nice movement to look at (if you have the display back).
Don (46crew) has a beautiful GMT 44 in his collection and as far as I understand he is very pleased with it.

The Chronomat GMT has recently grown on me. It's a nice looking watch, not to mention the in house movement. IMO the 47 is excessively large, as it looks even bigger than an SA.

I agree, the 47 is stunning but think on a bracelet it would be a too heavy and uncomfortable to wear so I've done it, the 44 GMT with black dial and silver subs is on order, cannot wait to get it on my wrist.

FYI, I have 6.5" wrists. The 44mm version definitely looks so much better on the average size wrist.
