Finally..
Any more details on the movement ??

hard to follow your questions & comments in three different threads

movement is Cal 02, basically a Cal. 01 without the automatic winding.
39 jewels, 28k, column wheel, 1/4th second chronograph, 30-minute & 12-hour totalizers,
date at 5, 70 hours power reserve.

US pricing $8.3k on calf tang

blah here:

have seen prettier movements, to put it mildly. not too thrilled to have that under a DB ...

That date window doesn't work for me either, it looks a little tacky, but that aside that is one beautiful watch, and with an in-house movement - just about perfect.

Edit - I wish it had a DB also.

Agree with Tim and others above.

The date window does jar a little, but on the whole this gets a big thumbs-up from me. This is the sort of thing Breitling should be encouraged to do.

Thanks for the information..sir. A 70 hour manual wind sure is painful..esp for a piece that would easily cost 6K after discounts.. I haven't seen any better finished movements in this price range except GO. But then, I am not v experienced in horology anyways.

As for the difficulty you faced in following me, well..what can I say ? I am a touch demented :)

Cheers
nishant

PS : The only manual mind I could see myself getting is PAM233 .. after a painful winding exercise, at least its good for a week.

Does anyone know if:

The new cosmonaute is thinner then the Navi 01?

And

The cosmonaute has the same crown as the navi 01?

Thanks!

It could be thinner since it's not automatic and therefore there is no rotor, but they'll probably use the same housing resulting in the same height. Same with the crown, they'll use their base navitimer parts so it should be the same.

Have to agree about the date window and the red hand. I personally love date windows as I frequently work night shifts and hence end up having the date change on me halfway through a shift, and I also finish work, sleep and then come back to work again on the same date. But the way it cuts into the 10... I'd rather they'd gone without it.

I stand corrected. It was the Chronomat GMT Caober B05 Limited Edition with display back, not the new Cossie. My bad...
Best,
Ron

Reading through this now Ron you had me reaching for my wallet and the phone to call my AD.. and then shattered my hopes with your followup post. :-P

Iconic! I love Breitling's use of red...always just enough to complement the watch!

why is it painful, its the same movement as the b01 auto, and it would be kind of stupid to do a auto movement on the cosmonaut. no gravity means it wouldnt work anyway, im glad they did it manual, its the "right" way to do it in my opinion

Breitling is huge on purity of function - an automatic Cosmonaute would be almost as daft as a diver without a bezel pearl...... oh, never mind
