Did this ever happen to anyone else with the Crown being pulled out and either catching a gear or grinding something on the backstroke of winding the watch? Please chime in....

I have noticed something similar a couple of times with my Colt Ocean Auto last year. It felt like the rotor was spinning while trying to screw the crown in.
Unfortunately the watch has suffered a fatal encounter with a concrete floor shortly after and a complete overhaul brought it back to it's full glory.
I have to say, at that time the watch was not in a good shape after ten years without a single service plus the fall did some serious damage. As such, difficult to tell what the cause of the spinning rotor was.

Isn't there an overwind release (not sure of the tech term). When I wind my CA to full it will make a different sound once it's wound all the way. It will keep winding when I'm screwing down the crown and that sound (when it's fully wound) sounds a lot like the what I read in the first post. Though it's not really a grinding sound, but it is different than the sound of winding the watch when it is not fully loaded.

Just checked, mine definitely ticks when it is fully wound. At least it makes a different sound than the normal winding sound. It's been doing it for 6 years, been serviced once and keeps just about perfect time as my daily.

There is a slip clutch mechanism in automatics that some people have reported hearing. I've never heard it, and can't really think of any real reason for a noise (it's one end of the spring slipping in the mainspring barrel).

Mine is clear as day

Thanks for the inputs everyone, I have had it back for 5 days with no issues and I am very happy, staying at plus 1 a day. I will be changing to the straps and taking my first iPhone 5 photo shoot, with my new leathers, ill have them up soon.
