I have been in need of two things in a watch with my current two Ling rotation....a) some WR for the rare occasion I go past the deep end of the swimming pool, and b) a ruggedness for hunting, outdoors, etc.

I did not want to spend a whole lot of money as this will be my designated "beater" only used on ranch weekends and slumming around East Austin where the hipsters give you the stink-eye if you have any flash.

Ultimately decided on a 42mm Hamilton Khaki Field in Titanium on a black kevlar style strap. Which I am pretty sure will suffice anywhere I plan on taking it.

I have really liked what I have seen from the Hamilton counter lately and for the price you really get a lot of bang for your buck. Hamilton is typically who I refer pals to when asked what is a nice watch watch you can get for under $1K.

Beyond that, with the big names pushing past my comfort zone and earning power in pricing, I have no problem turning to brands like Hamilton and Frederick Constant to fill specific gaps in my collection that will not get as much use.

Pretty sharp Thomas. Not too shabby if you ask me. Congrats on the pick up.

I picked it up for $650 and I think retail is $950. Not bad at all in my book

:uplaugh: This made me laugh. Nice watch, great pick up. I often go back to Hamilton and poke around the site. Wish I could see some close to me.

Thanks fellas! My first nice watch (read $500+) was a Hamilton, so when looking for a beater ***I am an accountant not a rig worker*** I did not need much beyond 100m water resistance, automatic movement, and a rugged case. This was perfect for my needs!

In a town like Austin you have to beware of the bearded vintage set, who would prefer us spend all of our extra money on Co-Op memberships and craft beers!   Nonetheless, I can wear this guy under the radar on the hipper, more ironic side of town.

Hammies pack a lot of value. Just picked up a King Scuba for my son's 18th birthday next month. He should love it because it's replacing an Invicta! (Photo borrowed from the 'net.)
