Sanity happened!

Towards the end of the 90s there are some colourful Aeromarines and Professionals around. I can't remember when the colourful Chronomats first started appearing.

I can't think of too many 80s watches iwth a lot of colour, but that might be my memory - it's not an era I know a lot about.

If you're looking for a cool, retro watch, I think you should also go back a bit further to the '70s and take a look at the Sprint,

Blue 1974 £575

Orange c.1970 $1295 NOS

Didn't the Sprint have a resin case, Sharky? Those look like metal to me... which is a good thing, obviously! :)

There are some nice Sprints around - and obviously the 70s has some more outlandish designs.

Driver8 - I'll need to check the books but I believe that all resin cased Breitlings are Sprints, but not all Sprints are resin cased - if that makes sense.

What are resin cases like? Similar to Plastic? I've handled and owned many modern Breitlings but my knowledge of vintage Lings is a bit limited

It's not really plastic. I'm not an expert on how they are produced, but I believe that it starts as a liquid which is then poured into a mould and harden.

I guess it can be considered a fore-runner of ceramic watches these days. I don't know anything about how resilient they are.

Don't show that pics to the Doc...

A resin is very much like a plastic, made to resemble natural resins (like amber). They are indeed moulded and then hardened. They are extremely water resistant, but if made in the 70's they might be very sensitive to solvents (read alcohol and similar) and scratches.
