Eventually, I'll probably get one, but to be honest, I'm not excited... It's just a phone after all. I can't deny I like the iPhones for their build quality, but then, it's made somewhere in China, in conditions nobody really wants to know about. Sort of bugs me.

It's just a phone. That's a statement that you can make about anything. It's just a watch, all it does it tell time. The iPhone has more computing power than the space ships that took man to the moon. We sit here and drool over a piece of Jewelers that tells us the time yet the iPhone is 'just' a phone. To each is own.

Looks like youre right. All the $10 reports are a few days old. $30 is damn expensive.

@Sergio

Well to me, it is just a phone, an appliance, a product with built in obsolescence, an object made to be replaced by another. I get the part where there's passion in the engineering and the technology, the "designed in California" bit, I understand and admire that. But for what is of the manufacture, on the "made in china" side, its just another piece of consumer electronics, made in masses to be trown away shortly after... just a phone.

That is though, no more than my personal opinion.

Well I'm still on a 3GS, and I've been holding fire on an upgrade until the 5 came out. Given the cost of the 5, and the apparently fairly minor improvements over the 4S, I'm really not sure the 5 is worth the premium at this stage. Decisions.....

Not sure if it's a big enough draw for me, especially as the UK will no doubt be a long way behind the States in coverage.... and the 4G contracts will no doubt be offensively expensive here. Just not sure if's worth the outlay for me. I bet a 4S upgrade would be free for me........

The 4s was a let down, it offered only minor improvements over the 4. The 5 is a major step forward which a much faster processor, its thinner and lighter, bigger screen, 4G LTE, better battery life (or so they say), FaceTime over 3G, and front facing HD camera finally.

Not an big enough upgrade from the 4s? I don't agree with that at all!

Another hollow statement. Every piece of electronics that has ever been created, and will ever be created, has built in obsolescence...unless you're typing to us on your Commodore 64 computer from 1982, then you are a victim of buying electronic devices with built in obsolescence.

Yeah, indeed, so? Look, you are free to be thrilled all you want and far from me the idea of spoiling that for you. Just saying it doesn't do the magic for me. Is that hollow? Well again, you're certainly free to think so. I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree here.

I'm not trolling when i say this (I'm an Apple fan and have an Air and an iPhone and am about to buy an iPad for work) but i've been kinda disappointed with Apple lately.

I put Mountain Lion on my 9 month old Air and i get shorter battery life, slower Safari and the four- finger swipe fails after the computer wakes from sleep (yes I've downloaded the update). I was bit disappointed with the iPhone 4S as an advance on the 4 as well.

I never thought i'd say this but i think the quality of their product might be slipping. The elephant in the room is Steve Jobs but most of these things were in development while he was still around (i'm guessing).
