Many people just don't like vintage (i.e. worn/used) looking pieces. If Breitling released a new version of the 806 (think, Omega's Ploprof 1200) then I reckon many people (including myself) would buy one. A lot of people can't stand *ahem* "patina", and other signs of use (especially if those signs of use were caused by someone else), so things like darkened lume, scratch-happy plexiglass crystals, uncrisp edges to the case due to wear, etc - just won't appeal to a lot of people these days.

As with anything in life it's horses for courses I guess.

+1

+2 - I want, want, want to appreciate "patina," but I just can't get there.

Hey, when you're 60 years old I bet you have 'patina' too. :poke: I hope someone still appreciates you.

Like what Driver said, when it's someone else that puts the "age" on the watch it is hard for me to appreciate. However, I think that if it was my watch from new I would probably have a different feeling and come to like the changes.

After briefly falling behind, SOSF is back ahead of the 806. Go, 'Fish.

I only saw one like that and then the vintage guys went off, so to speak. ;) Chalk it up to passion.

OK guys, so round 2 ends tomorrow late morning North American Eastern time. I should be able to get any ties relisted or round 3 started at some point tomorrow.

I like that you guys aren't into the vintage pieces. Keeps prices a little lower for the rest of us. :nana:
