For various reasons, it's been well over a year since I last posted here. While some of that had to do with life's distractions, a lot of it had to do with becoming more and more disenchanted with Breitling, and in general with my fairly new-found interest in the world of wristwatches.

When Breitling launched the Transocean Chrono LE, I immediately fell in love and thought it would be the watch that rekindled my passion for the brand. Since January of 2011, it has been sent back for repairs twice, along with having to send my dad's Colt GMT for a 2nd repair (13 months after its first repair). On one occasion, I made the dreadful mistake of actually dropping the watch off in person at BUSA in Wilton CT. To say that experience was disappointing and underwhelming would be quite the understatement. Let's just say that neither the facility nor the employees looked anything like "the lab coat technicians in sterile environment" pics that you see in the marketing materials. The whole experience really soured me on Breitling and watches in general. I felt a bit like a fool; I was upset with myself that I was dumb enough to buy into all the marketing, and dumb enough to believe that just because you were spending thousands on a watch, you wouldn't get lemons.

But......I do still love my watches. I love picking one out to wear every day, I love cleaning them, I love using them as the tools that they are, and I truly do love to appreciate the aesthetics of each piece, and the memories attached to each. In the end, I just think that I need to be smarter about my purchase decisions, and MUCH more realistic about my expectations.

In short, it's good to be back. And now I have to figure out what to do with the one open spot left in my 5-watch case.....

I'm sorry to hear your description of the CT service center. I sent a newly acquired preowned watch to
be serviced over a month ago and my few interactions with them so far match your description. The communication is poor and the service ridiculously slow. I love my 4 Breitling watches, but I'm very concerned with state of the company. I'm guessing the recession must have been really hard on them. In today's world marketing can get a new client, but it takes world class service to keep them, and once a customer is lost it is very difficult to get them back.

I like the Trans Ocean also. I think they need a few home runs in their product line. I hope they get busy.

Try Breitling China, Taiwan branch :-)
I've had five watches serviced there in as many months and it has been a very pleasant experience, very personal and intimate. To early to talk about reliability but so far so good.

Interesting about the BUSA facility. It is quite the opposite of the Dubai service center. The technicians are in lab coats and very much what you see in the marketing materials.
