It's real. The hands are not the original but this is probably due being replaced with a later version of the hands during a service

:welcome: and :real:

However, the case back is not consistent with the dial.

The dial/hand set indicates the watch is a B13048 model made in 1993/94.

However, the MB339 design case back is from the earliest (modern) Chronomats made in 1984/5. Ref# is 81950A as seen on the case back picture, not 81960A as stated in the listing. Therefore, the watch could be termed a "Franken" (made up of more than one genuine watch).

I personally prefer the MB339 case back so it wouldn't bother me but it will bother some so could reduce the value.

Chrono24 will give you an idea of current asking prices for the 13048 and what the correct case back looks like.

Thank you for your knowledge. I have worn a chronomat circa 1990 which was stolen from me 1 week ago for 22 years but I don't have this kind of expertise. Thanks again.

Is chrono24 a website we can buy with confidence or do we have to be prudent? Thanks

There are very few fakes on Chrono24.

Well, true among the modern pieces, lots of vintage fakes though - although Chrono24 is very good at removing them.
