Hi guys, after a nice little wait I have my 1955 pre 806 Valjoux 72 Breitling Navitimer finally in my hands, thanks Kurt for the beautiful work of art. I must say am very impressed by the build quality of these and is a looker for sure!

Here's a pic of her prior to removing the rust on the hands, these get rusted because of the radium lume on the hands which also cuses the lume to darken when mixed with russt. I know some of you would have loved to keep the rust since is added proof of originality but I am a wearer so I had to take that off:),

And here's what she looks like after removing the rust and a movement only service

Hi Cruvon,

congrats to your unique new piece, you picked an unique seller as well !

I had a few beers already, but I`m pretty sure you didn`t click the "after rust removing picture" ! (2nd one)

Would love to see it.

Cheers, Julius

Hi guys, sorry you'll had to compare 2 same pics while I was asleep:). I posted the first picture twice in error, will edit. The rust removal done is on the steel part of the hour and minute hand compared to the first picture. A very fine difference but something that I easily notice and woukd trouble me since I intend wearing her in rotation:). Offcourse we didn't want to work too much on the hands for danger of the lume on the hands getting damaged, the idea was to get the roughish rust you see on the hands off to expose the smooth hand surface.
Am loving the whole character and patina thing on this beauty!

That is just plain awesome...I'd love to have a watch with history like that! How did you remove the rust?

Thanks Nick, Kurt had his watchmaker do it, I guess it was carefully scraped off the hands using a blade like instrument, not sure but definitely not a DIY I would attempt mysef:)
