How are these watches? I don't know anything about them, but they do fall into your price range. I've thought about picking one up myself. Any opinions?

Deep Blue are very well made pieces, great value for money. Most are automatics, but Japanese rather than Swiss.

I really like the subdials on this, do you know any other pieces where the subdials are not cutout (I don't know the proper term).

Since I'm sure the Seiko Monster and Seagull (Chinese) chronographs would fall under your price bracket, I'd probably go for one of the TimeFactors Precista range. Maybe the PRS-5 or the 17C.
