You all might throw stones on me (just kiddin') but I (being a hardcore Breitling fanatic) being greatly astonished find myself more and more often wearing my Sinn 103 St with acrylic glass and some personalization, meaning to stick to the traditions (this time I think it is the sixties-seventies when Mathey-Tissot made the original for himself, Heuer, Breguet and JLC and being friends with Helmut sold them to Sinn too) more and more as I get older (now 51).
Valjoux 7750 TOP, day-date, great lume and visibility, perfect size and weight, sapphyre case-back, WR 200m and that altogether around 1.5k Euros on nice bracelet.
No offense here (still a Ling fan speaking), just showing how broad the spectrum can be. Closest Ling to this model was the MkI. Blackbird, unfortunately missing the weekday feature and thus not in my small collection.
Regards,
Robert

Many months later a B01 came to me as NOS that I just could not take my eyes off, held it side by side with my BEB and was struck as to how dated the Blackbird
looked.

Now that the B01 has been around for several years, I've recently had the same observation and was shocked about the fact. I still like the "classics" especially the pre-evo chronomats, but the B01s are what I picture when I think "chronomat".

BTW, I miss your photos!! I'd love to
See some of your new acquisition.

Fred, I think you've raised some fair points. We naysayers could probably stand to ease up a bit. However, it might be worth noting that acceptance is the fifth and most transcendent of the five stages of grief. To get there, we have to go through denial, anger, bargaining and depression first. I'm personally having trouble getting past anger, although I've begun bargaining a bit. (And in looking at my avatar, I see that depression might not be that far off.) I anticipate I will eventually get to acceptance, but the journey toward enlightenment is not an easy one.

If you really don't like posting here anymore, I understand, but please don't think you need to stay away just because you've "worn out" your welcome. You haven't.

Fred could never wear out his welcome. Other members have worn out their welcome though, one in particular comes to mind.

Serge, I would go, but why should you be the sole claimant to the title of Biggest Douchebag on B-Source? You need a little competition.

Think it may be time for you to receive another warning; recently your posts have seemed to become more and more out of line and your propensity for taking threads off topic is quite annoying. You would be better served attempting to actual contribute with watch related information than attempting to be a comedian which I know people don't find amusing.

You would be better served speaking only for yourself. If other "people" have something to say, they can say it.

End of discussion.

Here we go again.

JacksonStone I am losing count of the number of times that I have asked you to remember the rules for civility. mfserge, you have demonstrated an ability to be a valuable contributor to this site, don't be baited into losing that.

Hopefully they will come out with an inhouse Navi world for you, and as long as they don't make the GMT hand super large as they did on the Chronomat, then I think it will be a spectacular piece....even if the date font doesn't match :poke:

I believe that if you do not like something, get rid of it and move on.

To be honest Frank, this was kind of what I was getting at in my opening post in this thread about it perhaps being "time to hang up our Breitling spurs". i.e. those of us who don't like what's happening to the brand maybe need to move on, because nothing we say will ever change Breitling's course....... and of course there are plenty who like the current direction anyway. Hence why I said I'm going to limit my personal critique of Breitling's decisions and/or models to, "I like it" or "I don't like it" and just leave it at that. That said, I certainly don't think anyone should feel bad about voicing their opinion here as freedom of opinion is one of the good things about this site.

Helderberg wrote:
....tired of coming to a forum of alleged Breitling enthusiast's only to see post after post of how bad the watches are.

I think to say "alleged" Breitling enthusiasts is just a little bit harsh, Frank. Fanboys? - definitely not, but Enthusiasts? - a resounding yes IMO, as I think a lot of the criticism comes from many of us being too enthusiastic, and more specifically too enthusiastic for the "good old days"........ which is again indicative of perhaps a need to move on.

Helderberg wrote:

I personally really hope you don't go away, as I'm sure this is probably just a transient phase in the natural lifecycle of the forum, and you've always been a valued contributor. But as with all things in life, we all have to decide when the time's right to walk away from something.

Let's hope so with that 46mm in-house Navi. Heck I'd buy one even with a dodgy date font!
