I would have to agree, also on gut feel alone.......... although I'm no vintage or PP expert.

You might get better responses if you post this in the "Vintage" section. I personally cannot say either way if this is real or fake.

I can understand the reasoning, but the vintage section is really for Breitlings only, so it'll need to stay here. Personally I'd try posting it in the relevant forum on WUS.

Assuming that the 67898 is the serial number, that predates the invention of the wrist watch which would suggest that it's a fake.

There's a guy in central or eastern Europe (can't recall exactly where) who takes pocket watch movements and recases them as wristwatches. No attempt to deceive, he's perfectly open about what he is doing and he sells a lot. This looks like it may be one of those pieces.

Reply from seller when emailed
This is original Patek pocketwatch movement with a new case, I did not have paperwork or box, I have got the watch only, regards

Is this like putting a Porchse badge on a chevy? Worthless?

I like the face and hands on this but not paying patek prices for something that's not worth it

These pieces sell for good money on eBay - there's a market for them, just understand what they are - recased pocket watch movements in a modern case. You are still getting a 140 year old PP movement in a more wearable form. I wish I could remember the name of the seller so that I could give you examples, but I've seen high end movements that he has recased sell for well over $10k.
