I guess we got nicer ADs here, with an Eplo I being around 5000 CHF after rebate...

Rebate? I guess you guys do have nicer ADs. Rolex offering a rebate is news to me. All accounts I've heard are that Rolex is notorious for not permitting much in the way of discounting. A 10% discount would be considered unusually generous, at least in the US.

Yes and no, big AD in Zurich, you may be right, smaller AD in an tourist haven off season... With the cash on the table and knowing there are others waiting to kit you out if they don't... You'd be able to negotiate. But for sure, it is not as up front as the US and other brands.

You've got to keep in mind... Some rolexes still reach the gray market, so someone is selling somewhere.

Definitely helps if you know someone who knows someone as well though... Just to provide accountability as to your intentions. It's an awkward world among Rolex ADs and they are quite scared of mystery shoppers.

Knee jerk reaction would be a new speedy pro and use the remaining funds for something else.

Otherwise something preowned from JLC, something from Zenith or maybe even something like Bremont. Lots of options at that price point.

Ok, let me review my prior opinion and go wild here. I have just discovered this and it fits the price range easily... One could even have two probably.

What I would buy... Despite my Speedylust... Is a JS Watch Co Sif. N.A.R.T

I stumbled over it by pure accident.

Swiss COSC Mvt., Icelandic case. An altogether very good looking and somewhat exotic package. It has all it takes to please my sense of WISery.

They have a very special "if you want one come by our shop on an island in the midst of the north atlantic and ask for Sigurdur" kind of retail strategy...

I like that.

As luck would have it, I'll be in Reykjavik in a couple of days. I'll pay Sigurdur a visit and see what this is all about.

Interesting, Nav. I'd not heard of that brand. I do like some of their pieces.

Speaking of reviewing prior opinions, I failed to mention Breitling's Superocean Heritage - one of the few current Breitlings to do the brand justice, and arguably the best bang for the buck among the current offerings. Personally, I'd go for the 42mm three-hand, with black dial and black bezel, on mesh.

N.A.R.T. is pretty small - only 40mm and wears no more than that.

Rolex 1675 or 5513. Would aim for 5.4million serial (birth year)

So it's not like the gmtII C in that regard? Good to know because I'm seriously beginning to believe this'll be my next watch...

How does the quality of JS's mesh bracelet compare to the likes of Breitling's?

Fair enough, just letting you know that it doesn't wear big.

About what you would expect for the price, not bad, but noticeably lower quality than Breitling.

Thanks! My likening it to the gmt was less a remark than a genuine question on how it wears... With no smartassery intended... I guess I'll just have to try it. Hope I get a chance to stop by their shop and visit.

Probably a nice preowned Seadweller is what I'd pick up.
