ok, i pretty much eliminated the chance of me ever owning a rolex dssd unless they make some big design changes one day.
ive decided i want a panerai, but right now i dont want to drop that type of coin, and the model i want (pam 422) wont be out for quite a while at AD'S.

so that leaves me back to a pretty "comparable" combo i think.

super avenger, white dial with batons, on bracelet.

or

omega planet ocean 45.5mm 8500 in house on bracelet, grey bezel with 3 orange numbers.

as usual im looking for a large diam watch due to 8" wrist size. i tried them on recently side by side and had a hard time making a decision if i was going to purchase on the spot.
ive always wanted a SA, and have already owned an SMP 300 co axial.
right when i think im 'all in' for the SA, omega is trying to pull me back again. the one thing about the omega is it kinda looks similar to my oris dermeistertaucher diver. whereas the SA is a completely diff looking watch because of the full polish. which leads to the downside of the SA. how hard is it to keep it clean/smudge free etc? do you guys keep a cloth with you?

lastly, they are actually really close in OTD price from the shopping i have done at an AD since omega can usually be had for a little better of a discount..

Same answer - the non SA. In house vs. 7750, coaxial escapement vs. traditional - no brainer for me, but it's your watch.

SA for me. In house would be nice, but if I cared that much I never would have bought my Bentley. It sounds like you want that SA, so I give you permission to ignore everyone else and get the one you really want!

Idk. This one might be a hard decision for me. I know the sensible thing to do is buy the omega.
But I'm not sure if I can withstand the ling bling...lol

That's what's great about this forum. We're actually a watch appreciator forum, with a slight emphasis on Breitlings. We're not a Breitling fanboy site, which is practically what you would have to be these days to not be frustrated by at least some of the moves Breitling has pulled of late.

As to your question, like most others, I vote for the PO, for the reasons others have already stated. If I were considering the large-size PO, I'd lean toward the titanium Liquidmetal version. The Liquidmetal bezel and lacquered dial kick up the appearance a few notches, and the titanium will help offset the weight of such a large watch, increasing wearing comfort substantially.

Polished watches are definitely more prone to showing smudges than brushed watches. I never found it necessary to carry a cloth with me, although it might have helped in a few instances. I would clean it at the start of the day, which usually was all I needed to do. If a really ugly smudge appeared in the middle of the day, I found I could usually wipe it off with the edge of my shirt, but a cloth probably would have been better.

I didn't offer any hate towards the SA, I simply don't believe that it matches up well to the watches that you are comparing against, that's my (attempted) objective opinion.

PO... But price is the huge factor. Nearly new or heavily discounted can even the field so all in all the 8500 PO would win out for me. Its just a better watch all considered.

PO 2500 rev d would be a cheaper alternative.
