Actually, you can find various tropical plants in the Montreux area because of its micro-climate. Palm trees is one but you can also find banana trees for example.

Very interesting... Didn't know that. When people think of palm trees they usually think of LA. Although palm trees are not native to California either.

We had some in the garden when I lived on lake Geneva... Now in Zurich it's a different story, although it is quite warm these days.

As to your question Tomcat, it ran me about 750.- I bought it in Zurich in a mall, no negotiating.

Not sure I fully understand what a 1983 swatch looked like... I was yet to be born back then...

Thanks for the info.

As for Swatch, it could be one of these: http://www.squiggly.com/us/en/swatch/gg701-strap-agg701.htm

Wow, a day date... Not too shabby ey? ;)

I really like the Swatches as objects... But somehow I don't like how they wear.

As a Rolex person, I have to say, I've seen worse... and it gives it that slightly vintage note...

Hmm, 1983 I think I got my first Swatch from my Grandpa. :) I'll see if I can post a screenshot in the next days.

Edit: I have now attached an image of old Swatch from about 1983. Unfortunately not in a very good condition... But I used it a lot when I was a kid back then. :D

Couldn't agree more with OP. Purchased a Hamilton Khaki Pilot last year, it was my first automatic. Really like the Maestro lineup they have, very clean with 7750 movement.

Now obsessed with purchasing my first Breitling. Navitimer World or Super Avenger. Hope to have a new addition to the family soon enough.
:lingsrock:

Congrats on your purchase and wear it in good health.

Congratulations on the pick up. I have a Khaki X Wind and find it hard to resist as well. :D

My only nag of Hamilton is, I find the engraving a little under attended to. It’s sharp and deep in the places it counts, but tends to be a little unrefined. The faceting and hard points could be cleaner, as they appear stamped rather than engraved. It’s not as though they are a cheap watch and I did expect a little better attention in this area for the outlay. Perhaps it’s just me.

I love the brand anyway.

My version is the custard coloured dial on dark brown leather strap, which no one seems to like, except me. Perhaps it is just me then! :?
