Hi! I'm new!

I've wanted a Breitling since I was 8. No, that isnt a typo...as in I was in third grade. My uncle was a scuba instructor and he had a Breitling I loved. The concept of how they work fascinated me as much then as they do today. Since then, I've wanted one. I got a Tag auto a few years ago as a 'compromise' given it was cheaper, which I ultimately wound up selling as it wasn't what I wanted. Yesterday I bought a Superocean Steelfish, which is the model I've wanted for years (I was torn between that and the SO44 but I preferred the steel over rubber personally). I'm not sure if I am dreaming or not. I've been in college for a decade and I am now doing my PhD. I didn't think I could afford it but my girlfriend encouraged me to go for it, and my AD had one that they sold a year ago, was like new, and had just came back from service...so I took the plunge. It's a black face on the matte professional 2 bracelet and 44mm, which I believe means it is the X-Plus. It only took 20 years :p

I do have a couple of paranoid questions...
--I realized the goofy size of my wrist meant I needed 5 links on the 6-o'clock side and 7 on the 12-o'clock side for the snap to be below the bezel and not on the side of my wrist. I read online how to do the links given it sounded easy and it was. However, I wasn't sure how much to torque them...I turned them until the mini screwdriver didn't want to turn them anymore with enough strength to make sure they don't back out but not an exceptional amount of force...is that good?
--I had to take apart the 'screw-in-a-screw' that connects the final link to the oversnap. Getting it out was easy but getting it back in was a little bit harder. I was able to torque this only mildly and not quite as much as it was when I removed it...do I need to worry about this? I was quite proud of doing this but just want to make sure I didn't over/under torque the screws as I will use this watch for swimming in the ocean and diving. Thanks! :lingsrock:
--My AD said this can take multiple bands...I assume he means the leather, rubber, and mesh Superocean/Avenger bands/straps, correct? I love the Navitimer link strap but I cannot see how it would fit.

I bet quite a few people here have multiple Breitling models...and I can see why. It's great to be here and to have a source on these awesome "precision instruments" (I love that terminology). 8)

Welcome to BreitlingSource and congratulations on your first Breitling

The links are likely OK, but you can also use some Loctite in there if you are a little nervous - Breitling use it themselves.

In terms of different bracelets / straps, generally speaking the bracelets are unique to each model (custom end links) so you aren't going to get a Navitimer bracelet on there. You can put any of the straps on there as they are straight ended and by the same token the mesh will fit as it's a straight end link.

Thanks for the welcome! I did take the screws out and use a dab of medium strength Loctite. I once had a band of another watch come undone when waterskiing, although it wasn't as beefy as the Superocean. This this is hard core!
