It seems the "Herc" had a very short production span,
& was killed before it had the chance to grow & prosper.
That may have been the start of Breitling's major over-
hauls that have no apparent rational, nor logical motives.

The funny thing was (well, funny looking back now anyway) was that the Herc wasn't very popular at the time because it was considered to be "not very Breitling-like"!!! Hilarious really, when you compare the Herc to how far away from "Breitling-like" Breitling have moved in the last few years. I think nowadays most of us are BEGGING Breitling to make something like the Herc again!

Yes, it was a bit of a departure from the crosswind/chronmat look.

I was iffy on it at first. Looking back over the 00 decade, i see the Herc as the inspiration for the Super Avenger
the change of course was the integrated bracelet as well. I have seen folks come up with a modified rubber strap and leather straps to fit the Herc.

there are few models with integrated bracelets: chronomatic, Legende...

Why would Breitling change the crown to screwed down and not alter the water resistance rating?
I though they were all screwed down.

Getting an A39362 tomorrow.
Sure the dealer said the crown was nice and tight. Hopefully he hasn't superglued it

Dont know!
they have different technologies to keep water out. screw down crowns is just one, and is mechanical, so it can fail over time.
screw down or not, you can have good WR Capabilities
but keep in mind this is the company that came up with "SuperQuartz"
it dont leap tall buildings.... ;-)
all it means is that they actually tested the movement to some specs, same movement they used for years
Marketing is a great thing (if you are on the monetization end LOL)

Well my Herc turned up today.

Yes it's a press down crown.

The most immaculate Herc I've owned.

Should I be worried about the W/R with it being a push down crown, or throw caution to the wind as it has a 12month warranty from today and still rated at 100m

?????

IMO< it is not what i would use or call a dive watch by any means
you should get a seawolf or ocean model.
I would not be too worried to get it wet., but i dont typically shower with my watches...that is a personal choice :)

I purchased a couple of chronomat evos in two-tone, ivory and black, with romans on two-tone pilot bracelets a few years back. I did not realize that the bezels did not come polished from the factory, but this was how they arrived BNIB from Wilton.

My AD offered to polish up the bezels himself, with the caveat that if I returned the watch to Breitling for service they might refuse to touch the watch due to the 'aftermarket modification'. So I purchased two additional bezels to switch out in the event I have to send the watch in for maintenance.

They look absolutely *awesome*, and as far as I know are unique pieces; although I'm sure some other enterprising collector has gone down the same road. Personally I despise brushed finishes on Windriders, I think it takes away from the intended effect-bold and in-your-face yet tastefully designed (pre-B01)

If water gets in then Breitling will do a pressure test and if the watch fails then they will treat it as a warranty issue - I assume that the dealer that you bought from would be the same.

Just found this thread and wanted to comment. The polished black on black Herc looks amazing and would love to see this re-issued someday, albeit with a dive watch construction and a reasonable WR rating.
