Guys I wonder if you could help. I saw a guy today wearing a Tag watch. It was black, but the face had a blue shine to it, it had a rubber strap and at the bottom of the face you could see the watch movement, like a golden pendulum almost. Does anyone know what this watch is? I've been searching google for 30 minutes now to no avail.

Thanks, Adam.

Okay I spoke to someone that thinks it might be in the carrera range, but looking at those watches it looks similar, with the chrono but missing the see through part at the bottom of the watch face..

It possibly could have been a fake TAG. If you google "Tag Heuer Tourbillon" you will see enough of them.

I'm with Wessa. I'm not aware of any TAG Carreras with an open heart. Or any TAGs in general, for that matter.

I spoke too soon. In 2010, TAG Heuer introduced the Grand Carrera Pendulum. However, as far as I can tell, it's a concept watch, and never entered into production for the consumer market. It does not show up on TAG's website as an available model in the current lineup. It matches your description pretty well, except the pendulum window is between 7 and 9, not at the bottom of the dial. Also, the pendulum is a white metal, not yellow. So, based on your description, as well as the odds being exceedingly slim you just happened to see one of the genuine prototype models while out and about, I'm still voting fake. Either that, of you got a glimpse of a very rare bird.

You are right JS, google search of Tag Heuer Tourbillon did return the Grand Carrera Pendulum but as you said, only as a concept model. Could not find a commercial TAG model with either a Tourbillon or an open heart balance.
Tons of links however to fake watch sellers with what the OP is describing, with an open heart balance at 6 position.
Difficult to tell for certain without a picture.

Appreciate this is a difficult one. I've emailed TAG and they're looking into it for me. I might try get hold of the guy, it is possible, but might be a bit awkward asking him what model it is, if it is indeed a fake. If I do find out I will make sure I post a picture for you, or let you know that your suspicions are correct and it was a fake.

From that, I take it the Grand Carrera Pendulum wasn't the winner?

Nope, this one had the movement at the 6.

Not that it's relevant to your inquiry, but I see there is another quasi-open face TAG that just came out this year: the Mikrotourbillon S, with not one, but two tourbillons, visible through the left side of the dial. Again, a concept model, with a far more radical design than what you're describing.

Obviously my awareness of open-heart TAGs was pretty limited. That said, I'm still not aware of an actual production TAG that has an open heart. I'll be interested to hear what the company reports to you.
