No, probably fake! There are some very accurate 'quality' fakes of Rolexes. The subdial spacing doesn't look quite right for me. Some detailed pics of the movement might confirm as a fake Daytona is likely to use a Chinese Valjoux 775x clone movement (rather than the in-house or Zenith movements of the real)

First of all I know he's a friend of a friend but how much is he asking? Expect to pay about 9k to 10k and above. Maybe if he might want to give it away to you but still expect to pay top dollar. If he offers anything less be suspicious. Daytonas hold their value really well. If your friend of a friend is also confident that it's real, he'll offer a money back guarantee as well.

Second, any sale pic that is that blurry deserves another thought. As mentioned, there are plenty of good fakes out there.

Remember, buy the seller. Then buy the watch.

I'll say 98% sure it is fake. The subdials are too small and should be closer to the markers. The pushers don't look quite right either. Minute marks on the dial should be a bit longer as well.

Is it possible for you and a friend of a friend to meet at a Rolex AD to get it checked out?

I'm going to call this fake. Assuming this is a Daytona ref. 116520 with the in-house movement, the gap between the 10 and 2 o'clock batons and their adjacent subdials is far too big. As already said, Rolexes are like currency so if one is being offered at a low price from a less than reputable source, be suspicious.

The bracelet end link is not right either. It's a Fugazi (ie. fake). I used to own a real one.

:yeahthat Blurry pic + no papers = no sale. That's even without taking into account the overwhelming responses in this thread.
