Today my journey comes to an end, and sort of does in a full circle type way, almost telling me it really is time.

I guess it was about 10 years ago I bought my first $500+ watch, a Tag Aquaracer, and had it for 6-7 years without any thought of another. Then I met a friend who was into watches which got me curious about the other brands, and one night out of the blue I went online shopping and I guess never really stopped since. Well today I am stopping.

The first brand that really caught my eye was of course Breitling, and it still does, but not so much on their new offerings. It's not the reason I'm leaving this behind, but it will make it easier. :D The ideas I had quite a while back for a "collection" was to spend around 10k total which I didn't go over by too much, but did waste a couple K on losses by changing things up. I wanted a black dial, white/silver dial, and a blue dial. Also had to have at least one Chronograph and a diver, a watch I could wear with a leather strap, and one on rubber, and they all had to feel great on the wrist. So having all that in mind this is how it ended up.

Now here's the reason I say it has come full circle. That aquaracer I bought 10 years ago was a silver dial and I haven't really owned one for any length of time again. What didn't occur to me until tonight is the silver Seawolf I just purchased is from that same seller as the Tag and I had not dealt with them again until now.

So here's where it started.

And here's how it ends.

Not bad if you ask me and now it's time to leave this watch obsession behind and just enjoy them. :lingsrock: I still might buy a winder, and definitely add a strap here and there, but these are the three I've decided on and is a wrap.

Congratulations on reaching the end of your journey, and enjoy. Wonder if I'll ever get there...

Yep, I am pretty sure and there's a couple reasons why....

1) I will not go out of pocket again for a watch.

2) I like these two lings too much to part with them.

That leaves no choice but to move on. I'm also sick of the process of selling the ones that don't work out and will be happy to see the Steelfish go because it's the last thing I have to do.

I never wanted to be a watch nut anyway, just own a few I like and I suppose get to know the brands along the way... which I surely did with all the hours I spent reading the forums. I guess the funny part is luxury watches are near non existent here and I could wear an Invicta and it wouldn't make a difference to anyone but me. But who cares, right. :lingsrock:

Kudos to your journey. Personally I don't think I'm quite there yet but who knows... maybe a minute repeater and a tourbillon later I might call it quits too. 8)

It's either that or a new hobby just takes over. But doubt that'll happen either.

I'm in trouble.

Congrats if you are happy with calling it a day. Nice set you have there.

Personally I've thought of doing that myself a couple of times over the years, but for me that feeling never lasted more than a couple of hours, so now I just go with the flow, and I'm sure I'll never stop! But more power to you for your decision.

Probably easier for me because I never looked at it as collecting, just sort of normal watch person shopping times 3. (only it took a few years and about a dozen watches to settle) I guess that doesn't sound normal does it.

I was very close a bit over a year ago, or at least I thought I was going to be when I had a BB, SA, and Ball Spacemaster, but the BB was a little small for me, the SA I was ok with, and the Ball had to go because of the fit. At the time I couldn't get the black 6.75 out of my head so decided to make a big move and sell all my three and get it, and the 2nd watch I picked to add to that deal was the silver Seawolf. So it took a while to finally get here (grabbing the Sharkdiver & Steelfish in the middle) but it has been the plan for quite a while, and worked out even better than I thought. I still have the Fish to sell which will feel like a good rebate now that I'm done.

Congratulations . . . I guess? Truth is, I share your goal, but am not nearly so far along in the journey — although a vision of the "Final Collection" is starting to take form in my head, and at least two (and maybe three) of my fab five are safely in the stable.

Don't forget his other great quote:
(cocking shotgun) "hey! If you're gonna beat up on my friend (Homer) there's a two drink minimum"

:yeahthat

It must be a great feeling to realize that you have finally arrived at the end of your Journey. And a succesful one at that. So, the feeling must be one of satisfaction and fulfillment.
