Just back from another day at the house, loads done. Started by laying the membrane and concrete pads for the tiled plinth that will extend from indoors and then step down to decking.
Image

And once that was done I got the bedroom doors and door furniture on.
A few pages ago showed some during pics of the work I've done on the door furniture. This has truly been a labour of love - considering they are 110 years old they've certainly come up a treat! They were caked in god knows how many layers of lead paint and gloss.
I even have working individual keys for each door, it's amazing that that are still here.

Heres one ready to be mounted
Image

And a couple in situ

2.5 tonnes of limestone also arrived today for the floor, plasterers start in moday, tillers as soon as they've done. Not long to go now....

Seeing light at the end of the tunnel now...
The roof ha finally been made watertight this morning, it's a single ply rubber membrane, essentially the worlds most expensive inner tube. But it comes with a 30 year guarantee so not complaining. Glass will be put in the skylight tmrw.

Image

The plasterers have also made a start, should be done by Thursday.
Image

And outside, the carcass has been constructed for the decking and the tiled plinth that will link outside to inside.
Image
Image

Tilers are in Monday, kitchen is going in at the end of next week, baby is due the end of the week after! Phew!!

Told you that light was near :D

Amazing progress again and everything seems to come into place nicely. Slowly but steadily. Hope you won't need to ask mother nature for some extra time.

Plasterers finished today, I've just returned from the house now, been a long day- started work at 7am! Just put all the switches and sockets on in the extension and marked out ready to get the spots in. Should have an electrician down on weds to commission the circuits and finally have power and lights back after 4 long months!

Today has has been somewhat of a milestone, got all of the lights on ad working in the extension. So it was the first time any mains lights had worked in the 5 months I've had the keys!
Low voltage downlights

Narrow beam LED spots

Very pleased with the LEDs, they dim well and cast a really nice light on the brickwork below.
Incase you haven't noticed in the first pic, the kitchen has arrived.

Tilers start the floor Monday morning, as soon as that's done I'll be cracking on with getting the kitchen fitted. Fingers crossed we will be moving in at some point next weekend - cant bloody wait!

Cheers , really appreciate it. I can't wait either!
Been a real bitty day today, just got tidied up ready for the Tilers to crack on first thing in the morning.
Don't think I've posted pics of the floor tiles yet - so here we go! They are 600x400mm solid limestone in grey, all uk sourced, from Derbyshire I understand.
Image

Image
They are a little grubby in the top picture but you get the idea.
I managed to get a coat of paint on some of the extension walls too.
Image

We are hoping to be moved in a week from now, needless to say they next 7 days are going to be VERY busy!

Well, today saw the rest of the extension get a first coat of paint, the majority of the decking getting completed and the fridge arrive, in what can only be described as an enormous box!

Here are some interior shots, I'm really loving some of the lines appearing now, it gives the room intrest and depth of character.

Here's an updated outside shot, all the glass / bifolds should be arriving on Monday, once they're fitted we can get on with the rendering.

Plenty going on this week so expect several updates :-)

Evening all, another busy day has gone and we're one day nearer that moving in date!
The Tilers have been working at a good pace, and are on target to finish by Thursday.
Image

Image

I've been and chosen the stone coping that will sit on the parapets of the extension walls, we were going to go for pressed metal originally but my love for all things earthy got the better of me. I think against the white render and the dark steels / window frames these will look superb.

Image

Here's a pic of the decking finished, it does have lights in, but I'll get a pic of that one evening when the power is back on. You can see the wall tops where the stone coping will sit in this pic.

Time for today's update whilst I'm on site having a brew break!
Somewhat of a milestone today, electrician has been and fitted the consumer unit / commissioned all the circuits. It was a heart in the mouth moment as I've never done a full rewire before. Thankfully it was perfect and now everything works!
The coping stones I showed you yesterday have been laid.
From ground
Image
From the roof
Image
The skylight has had the lead flashing done and is now watertight.
Image

And the Tilers are not far off being done, 1 more day should do it.
Image
All going well this week so far!

Evening chaps, another 'on site' update today. Been a long day and still a good few hours to put in. Started off with a a few finishing touches, curtain pole in the master bedroom
(not very exciting I know..)
Image

Refitted the uncovered fireplace that I've sprayed up.
Image

And cracked on with the kitchen fitting as soon as the Tilers left

Towards the utility room (gap is for the dishwasher)

To do list for the weekend includes, plumbing washing machine and dishwasher, final coat of paint, maybe get some of the av / network wiring done in the understairs cupboard.
Will keep you all posted! :-)

Yeah, really awesome. What a reward it must be at the end of the day when you take the time to post your updates.
