LOL...SoCal guys. We went from Pro's to Ho's.

I haven't been down there in years. And never even knew about "Eclipse".

I haven't been to TJ after dark since the late 90's. Guess I'm over the hill. How liberal are the guidelines on this forum anyway? Wouldn't it be a shame if my thread was shut down because you guys are talking talent. Funny stuff.

Verner, you've got to get that 3rd Pro before I can let you into the 3xPro Club. Otherwise, all the regular Pro Club people will be walking around calling themselves 1/3 3xPro members. It's a slippery slope.

Go on out and get your 3rd Pro!

Fair point.......but what would you suggest?
I really fancied a Cossy next, butI could be talked into something else....

What's a Cossy? Some sort of Teg Hoyer?

I'm looking at your collection. You've got two Pros, and very nice ones at that. But you've got to get yourself one more. You've got one analogue and one analogue-digital. Well balanced. Both quartz. As much as I love Super Quartz, have you considered an auto to balance out your movements?

The only auto Pro in the current Breitling line up is the Skyracer which I happen to be partial to. Some think it's over priced. I disagree. It's less expensive than the Navi line, and as a Navi owner, I will assert that the Skyracer is on par in terms of fit and finish. As a Pro, however, the Skyracer dwarfs the Navis in terms of utility with its countdown bezel, vastly superiour lume, and chrono totalizer/red-tipped chrono minute hand for ultimate chrono legibility.

You obviously don't mind a big chunk o watch, so you may consider a Hercules if you can get past the integrated bracelet. I believe it has a brushed bracelet which would offset your polished E/M nicely.

Or just get yourself another quartz - nothing wrong with that. Again, when we're talking Pros, we're talking utility. I happen to think the Aerospace is the most well rounded Breitling on the market. For me, it's the ultimate Pro. But an Aerospace could run interference on your B-1. Maybe you could get what is essentially a hybrid of the two Pros you've already got - the Emergency. Ever imagine yourself sporting a yellow dial? That would sure make things interesting.

Seriously though, what's a Cossy?

In the Breitling world, I'd say it's a Cosmonaute with the 24-hour-dial.

For the car/rally world and a slightly different spelling (Cossie) it would be a Ford Sierra Cosworth...

Cosmonut? Na, don't need that. Navi's don't have timer bezels, have poor lume, are too hard to read, poor water resistance, very expensive, and they break. All show and no go. I speak from experience. I'm supposed to receive a replacement Datora from BUSA this week because my original could not be fixed.

Don't take it from me. Read this thread: http://breitlingsource.com/phpBB2/viewt ... sc&start=0

You should be okay so long as you don't use the chronograph, but what good is that? You want an accessory, buy a Navi. You want an instrument, buy a Pro.

Hmmmmm, a slightly sweeping generalisation there, ffeelliixx. The thread you identify also has a lot of positive comments including some from Admin (who's owned literally hundreds of watches) and Alien who's an AD. As Admin said, those who have had problems are more likely to complain more loudly than those offering up praise.

I've owned two Navi Worlds and never had a single problem with either. Sure, I don't fly helicopters, I don't use pneumatic drills for a living, and I take my watch off if I do any DIY, so vibration is not an issue for me. And if I want to swim or dive then I use a diver's watch - simple.

The fact is, the Navi is a model from the 50's before quartz was invented. At that time there wasn't a more rugged alternative. You had a Navi, or nothing. No-one will dispute that something like an Airwolf has more features and is more rugged that a Navi. But that's to miss the point of what the Navi represents. It's like saying that a 1959 Rolls Royce Phantom V is a piece of junk because it's not as reliable as a VW Golf and doesn't have air-con.

Just a difference of opinion I guess!

Did you use your chronograph on your Navi Worlds on a daily basis? From what I've read, most people who own chronos barely use them, if at all. I use mine on a daily basis. Start-stop-start-stop. My Datora wasn't up for its chrono actually being used. That thread I linked to mentioned 6 pilots with Navis, each of which was having problems. Why? I suspect because they were actually using and relying on their chronos. For those people who don't use the chrono the Navi will probably work fine.

This could all be a fluke, a mirage. Admittedly, this could be the exception and not the rule. My replacement Datora may run great and the chrono may prove very reliable. We'll see.

I get the appeal of the Navi: its beauty, the heritage, etc. That's why I bought one. My above post was intended to be somewhat tongue-in-cheek - pushing Verner to buy his 3rd Pro and talking down the Navi in the process. I'm hoping my new Datora will work great, and I'll repent for the above post if it does (except the Pros really do have better lume, function, etc.). :D :D

I think it was the vibration for those 6 guys who had problems.....

Yeah I'll admit I rarely use the chronograph on my Navi. Looks good though! :)

And you're absolutely correct that if you want to use the chronograph day in day out then you're better off with a quartz - that's technological progress for you! To me Pro models are more "tool" watch whereas Navis are more like art.... which is kind of your point anyway.

I'm just standing up for the side of form over function here!

No worries. And for the record, if anybody wants a fantastic tool watch that's an auto and wears like art, that's the Skyracer. The chrono is super reliable and legible. Great lume, countdown bezel, 200m WR. This baby does it all. It has withstood my chrono use with ease, and it is striking. No other watch quite like it. Overpriced? No way.
