If I buy a watch that comes on bracelet, can I just buy the leather pieces or ocean racer rubber and use the same clasp or are all clasps different?

No, they are all three very different.

U can use after small adjusting by a watchmaker. It works fine on my CSO steel bracelet.

What works fine on your steel bracelet? A little elaboration if you can. Thanks

:yeahthat I'm trying to imagine how the ends of a leather or rubber strap would fit in a Pro II deployant, and I can't. So I, too, would be interested to hear how this works.

I feel like one would have to seriously carve out some rubber for a Pro II clasp to work correctly.

Not to mention the fact that removing one side of the clasp - the side with the safety -from the bracelet is a b##tch.

I know Lingman was able to get a strap maker to rework his black croco to fit the rubber deploy - neat trick there, but I just can't picture any other unique solutions. Not ruling it out though.

I'm still not seeing how the rubber (or leather) would stay in the Pro II deployant. The OR deployant has parts that grip the ends of the strap to hold it in place; ditto with leather strap deployants. On a Pro II deployant, the ends of the bracelet are held in with pins that run through the bracelet ends and lock into the deployant; there is no part of the clasp that actually grips the bracelet. So how would the strap stay in, even if it was the correct size?

Yeah, I've seen that as well. In fact, I much prefer deployment leather over tang leather (so far) and was going to try to get my rubber deploy to fit a leather deploy strap after I saw those photos. I just don't have a leather deployment strap to test it out on.

I wanted to add a scan about my ProII. bracelet with the OR clasp but the file was refused as being too large.
Here is the scan on another Breitling Forum:
http://forums.watchuseek.com/f15/id-lik ... ost3000928
Mod, plz delete if this violates BS rules!
Best,
Robert

Must admit, that is pretty cool looking.

It's nice, but it's different from what the OP was talking about. He was asking if was possible to adapt a bracelet deployant for use with straps. You did the opposite - adapting a strap deployant for use with a bracelet. In light of that, I'm sticking with my original pronouncement: I don't see how you can make straps work with a bracelet clasp like that on the Pro II or Pilot.

Yeah agree. The mod is pretty interesting. My only issue would be the width and height of the clasp - looks a bit over-sized for the bracelet. But still pretty ingenious.
