i think i am going to pull the trigger on the super ocean 1 chronograph 42mm with a black face and the link bracelet. seeing that the watch is no longer in production, do you think it would be too big for a 6.5 inch wrist on a small frame? also, does anyone see any problem buying a watch that is no longer in production(repairs, style)? this watch will be for everyday wear from anything from a suit to jeans.

thanks for everyone's help!

Absolutely not too big. I've had "a few" and my wrist is 6 & 1/2.

And certainly no problem with buying an out of production watch of any brand. I would even venture to say there are more than a few out of production Lings that I prefer to the current lineup.

I agree entirely. The SOC is a fantastic watch is just right for 6.5 inch. Go for it.

No problem with it being out of style - it is the classic Breitling style most of us prefer. As for parts, also not a concern - I found a new dial in stock for a watch that went out of production in 1994. Movement parts are even more readily in stock.

Since wrist sizes are important, & often written about,
perhaps Breitling, & others should start listing recommended
wrist sizes in their technical descriptions. Fits wrists best
between xx-xx, including lugs @ wrist edges, & crown as well.
Ideally, in-store try-ons rule, but having prior specs shaves
the contenders, & assists in making accurate, comfortable choices.

Nothing wrong with going with a discontinued watch.

I don't care for any of the new models.

Cheers

I agree it would help people out, but there are two issues.

Firstly, Breitling have always historically not sold on-line.... meaning they expect people to buy from an AD which means people will get to try the watches on. By giving a size guide, they'd be making is easier for people to buy "grey".

The other problem is that everyone's wrist is also a different shape. If your wrist is fairly small but very flat, a large watch may fit you better than if you have a bigger but "rounder" wrist.

There just ain't a substitute to trying on.

Really good point that. I'd never comprehended it till I started trying various ones one for size.

I too have a 6.5" wrist, and a 42mm is the absolute limit for me. But what matters is what you like, not what I like.

BTW, the black dial is very elegant. Goes with everything. It's the "new black". :)

Couldn't agree more. No day-date CSO any more :( and no lume dot on turning bezel any more :( and no 0-60 minutely bezel dots, only 0-15 minutes :(
I'm happy that I have my CSO I.
Regards
