I'm looking forward to the definition of one of them!

Verner,

The Emergency is 7/8 of a Ling

Many thanks for the reply.

If I wear both at the same time, does that mean I've more than a Ling?

No, it means you'll look quite odd.

Where did you see a picture of me.........oh hang on, you mean the two watch thing!

;)

Best wishes,

Verner

Driver8,

MONUMENTAL Lings will be all Gold or Platinum with bracelets of the same material. All the size requirements and dimensions will still apply. So for example, if you had an all Gold EVO it would be 3/4 of a MONUMENTAL Ling. If you had and all Gold Bentley on an all Gold bracelet it would be a MONUMENTAL Ling but if it was on a strap it would be 1/2 of a MONUMENTAL Ling. Then if you added a Diamond bezel to an all Gold Bentley you would have a "Magnificent Monumental" Ling. Then we have to move on at some point to Lings like the Mulliner Tourbillon, these will have another rating altogether.

So if I don't sell the two solid gold QPs (both on strap) then I have two half monumental Lings? Do I get any boost for them being super limited?

Surely a solid white gold perpetual rattrapante edition of 10 is worth more than a gold evo in the 'ling' stakes?????

Roffensian,

"Vintage" or Rare does make make a Ling qualify for any higher Ling category. I'll explain why. You can have a very old and rare car for example and it has an old ugly dashboard, no air conditioning, uncomfortable seats and basically it just doesn't compare to the modern luxury that is available in today's cars. So though it may be rare and a collectors item it's still not like stepping into a new Bentley. The same principle applies here. You can have a beautiful old Ling in all Gold that they only made 10 of but if it's 39 MM and on a strap it would remain in my jewelry box as an investment because I wouldn't enjoy wearing it because it's still NOT A FULL LING !

Roffensian,

If you are going to have Lings that are super rare and still FULL LINGS we are getting into a new category. An example would be an all Gold Mulliner Tourbillon on an all Gold bracelet. This would be beyond the run of the mill MONUMENTAL category. Then we would be getting into the "you could kill me right now and I will have still had a complete and full life LING"

Tell you what Ling Man - buy my two QPs and I'll see what I can do on the Mulliner (though I prefer the Perpetual). I'm sure my AD would help you out with some solid gold bracelets for the QPs.

Roffensian,

What are QP's ? and I agree I like the Perpetual better too it has a better dial and it's much less money.

Someone's gonna swing something at his head...wear that through Harlem. I hear that the Emergency Department at New York Presbyterian is nice this time of year.

Quantieme Perpetual. A perpetual calender basically, and the same movement that's in the Mulliner Perpetual.

(I much prefer the Mulliner Perpetual to the Tourbillon as well)

Right - although the white gold has the additional rattrapante complication :!:
