I don't agree with a watch having to speak to me to be in another league. 90% of AP dont speak to me, I hate most of them, but are they in another league? Hell yea. I hate Reverso's but they're in another league as well.

The PO can go toe to toe with a Sub in every category and beat the sub in quite a few I.e. lume, legibility, ar coating, finishing, lines and flows of the case. If you don't like the matte bezel or thickness that's understandable. Both are great watches, Rolex has some incredible manufacturing capabilities that no one can match, but watch for watch the PO is every bit the watch that a sub is.

Don't get me wrong guys, I wasn't putting the PO down, I think it does give the Sub a run. So yeah, it is a Sub competitor. I just don't put it on exactly the same level. It is very close though.

Point is, it's a great watch. There are people saying it's too expensive and focusing on the price difference between the new model and the old one. I think they are not giving it enough credit.

I didn't think that at all. For any watch to be compared to a sub is an achievement because of its heritage and market success. Some may not like the sub because of its success and appeal but I think it's a great classic watch. Rolex has incredible abilities in manufacturing and marketing their pieces, the PO just appeals more to me aesthetically than my Rolex. I've had the Sub C, I still and always will have my GMT IIc, and two PO 8500's and the POs win in almost every category for me.

The new POs are pricey but with an easily obtainable 25% discount you are not under $5k....for an Inhouse model with a ceramic bezel and a beautiful finish. Sub is $8k and with a 10% discount you're looking at $7200. PO ALL DAY! I was showing a family member of mine the difference between the Rolex case and PO case and he said "it looks like Rolex forget the finish the rest of the case' he was referring to have square the edges are while the PO has smooth flowing arcs on the side of the case that go from polished to brushed.

You're parsing my words in a way that, when I do it to you, pisses you off to no end. :poke: If we go back to my earlier statement, I said that the PO gives the Sub a run for its money in terms of quality. Where I said the PO comes up short is in the looks department. So, in looks only, I don't believe the PO is "in the same league" as the Sub, and that's all I ever meant.

So, the OP should get a PO, right?

While we're on the subject of what is in which league, and at risk of being negative about Breitling once again, the SA is not anywhere near the PO's league.

If you are a fan of the Super Avenger then just scrap both plans and buy the Planet Ocean Chrono 9300. About the same thickness as a Super Avenger and only about a bazillion times nicer.

I actually dont care at all about the chrono function on any watch, I just like the size of the SA. I wish I could get it without chrono for cheaper.....

While not quite the size of the SA, you could always get a Seawolf with batons.

For a minute the Rolex deep sea was on my radar. It's big but on an 8" wrist it's still not the effect I was going for, it's really only a 43mm. And has a resiculously sized bracelet in comparison to the watch. Until they make a bigger diam watch (if they ever do) I'll prob never own a rolex..... :(

I've been looking at the PO all day, I really need to try one on. I'm basically down to that or a SA. I'll prob eventually own both but can't do both at the same time....

Get both! I loved my SA, and want one again, but I am definitely after the new PO. Both great pieces of gear for us large-wristed fellas. :D

Me too! But I will more than likely get the PO. For me, it get's down to size and $$. I LOVE the Sub C and wish I could be comfortable wearing it. Sometimes it looks ok on my wrist, and other times it looks like a ladies watch. :? As stated before, the new PO's are not your Daddy's Omega, and they are in a whole new league. The movement, bezel, bracelet all vastly improved. The only real complaint I have is the lack of micro-adjustment on the bracelet. Heck, even Breitling has that, right? The Rolex glide-lock clasp is the best IMHO. (Just a bit narrow) If the Sub C were 42mm, I would be selling a few, and it would be over. But I love the PO 8500, and for a wrist my size it's the perfect fit. Omega has definitely stepped up their game, and have not gone overboard with raspberry bezels and such. Obviously the price difference makes it more attractive to me as well, as my military pay doesn't allow me to indulge too much. Although Rolex is well known for retaining value, I believe the new Omegas are on the same path. JMO.
