Alright first off I know that a lot of people don't care for the flying b chrono and I could care less. I love the watch and thats all that matters...Anyway I've been searching around for the best deal and buying online from a non brick and mortar store gives me the creeps. That being said I was calling around and found the one I want from a chain store AD but here is the kicker. They are willing to do it for 7850 with the croc strap w/deployment (retail is something like 12,500). Anyway they said that because it was in inventory for so long breitling makes them recode it to preowned and I don't get a breitling warranty or papers. They are certifying that the watch is brand new and will send me any document from breitling to confirm this but the warranty would come from them (2 years). Should I do it or not? lowest I've been able to get is 10k with warranty and papers even though this thing is being discontinued. HELP

I've never heard about recoding a watch as preowned if it's been in inventory that long. If you're not getting any Breitling documentation or the warranty, I'd just try to save more and deal with authentic watches. It's a grey market site, but you're not getting any benefit buying from an AD on this purchase. Plus, I think they're cheaper and they should be in stock. I'm guessing you can also get some off the prices they have posted on their websites since they seem to have plenty of them in stock and it doesn't look like they're flying off their shelves.

That's crazy - I bought a Chronomatic 44 new old stock 6 months ago with full warranty and it was discontinued in 2008. A Breitling bought new for the first time, no matter how old, comes with warranty and papers valid from the date of purchase. someone is either misinformed or lying.

Agree with Sharky. I doubt that Breitling would institute this policy or sanction this from a seller.

They told me they needed to re-code it because it has been up for sale for a while and that breitling is discontinuing it. I've called pretty much every AD on Breitling's site and even though Breitling is getting rid of it no one is discounting heavily except this place. I've called Authentic Watches before and the reviews seem mixed. Even with a bigger discount I really don't want to have problems with it. Its a lot of money either way you cut it.

It sounds to me like one of two things (1) they simply lost the papers or (2) it's preowned and they don't have the papers.

Tourneau, for instance, is famous for tossing box and papers on their preowned stock.

Try asking for the manager. If it is a "big chain" AD, the salespeople tend to be pretty uninformed. Not referring to any particular "big chain" mind you. *

*any semblance to any big chain ADs, alive or dead, is not intended and purely coincidental. May include composites of various ADs for post convenience.

its funny that you mentioned The big T because it is actually them. They told me that it is categorized under pre-owned because it didn't sell for a long time...the only thing I can think of is that they are not being truthful and it is actually preowned or they are too restricted by breitling in terms of pricing so they are listing it as preowned to blow it out.

I think it might be a way for them to get around giving such a high discount. Call it preowned and throw away the papers and they can sell it for whatever they want. Id just buy it from authenticwatches, save 2k, and put that toward any future services, whether within the warranty period or many years from now.

I smell a dead rat here somewhere.
Never heard of such practice.
I just bought a brand new 2004 release Omega Speedmaster from an Omega AD all paperwork and official Omega worldwide warranty dated the day I bought.
Different brand, I know but I've never heard of such a practice.
Someone is pulling your leg.

also reading all the complaints about Authentic watches with the BBB why do a lot of their watches require overhauls? seems like the standard answer given when a complaint is filed about a defective time piece

can not comment about Authentic, my suggestion would go a bit further. These watches do even not sell at those heavily discounted BIN prices, some of the BIN listings are almost two years old. From time to time LNIB-looking pieces are put on auction, probably dealers that just need the cash - and typically sell another 30% at least below the authenticwatches BINS. I would be a bit patient and wait for such auctions.

Im sure the majority are fine, but for the sake of argument, lets say you get one that requires an overhaul. Send it to Breilting, get it back in perfect working order with a 1 year warranty, and youre still up 1500 bucks.

This doesn't make any sense to me either.

We regularly advertise and sell discontinued models at discounted prices. The buyer gets all the regular paperwork and a full 2 year Breitling warranty with the watch.

I would demand the warranty you are entitled to.
