I think the resident 12 year old that Roff recently mentioned in a different thread has revealed himself here. :guns:

I have read some really ridiculous threads since I have been coming here... looks like this one goes into the top 5. With that said, I believe that most brands Tag, Breitling, Omega, etc. are high end. BUT... there is high end and then there is Luxury, or super high end (at least in my book). This is where AP, VC, PP, etc. fall in. I know that we don't typically like car analogies, but for my example (and the amount of effort I am putting into this post) this will have to do, MB, BMW, Audi, Porsche, are high end brands. After that you get into Rolls, Bentley, Lambo., those are above and beyond just like the super high end are in the watch world. I just think that there are different degrees as to what can be considered "High End" and it seems that is where the confusion lies.

As for the OP, yes, it seems that in my experience, from what I see on people's wrists Pam is getting more popular and may eventually be encroaching on the dominance of the Sub.

Yeah, how would it not be, it's inspired by Rolex ;)

As to the OP: mate, your thread has really lost every last bit of focus... Oh wait, I am the OP... Must have been distracted...

Hey, I'll keep it going. Back to the subject, it's all relative to the circles you run in. Being military, I have never seen a PAM on anyone. That's why I like to wear mine. ;) I have spent the majority of my 28 years in aviation, and have seen plenty of Breitlings and some Rolexes. The rest are too few to mention. So I have no clue what the average Joe sees in a board room. Maybe when I retire, but hopefully most of that time will be spent learning to play golf. :D I do think Paneari is getting more recognition, and it is well deserved inb my opinion. But this horse has been beaten, and it was intersting to read.

Yeah, and apparently there are just as many faked Honma Beres clubs as there are real ones... Ring any bells? This sounds an awful lot like the watch industry to me... The reason I know this is purely professional though, no aspirations for storming the green yet. However, with just about 25 years under my belt, I think it might be a bit early to determine what I'll be doing during my retirement ... ;)

I thought your employee candidates needed to have big boogs and a sexy voice for employment consideration at the nr123 corporation? :uplaugh:

I can't speak for nr123, but I wouldn't hire any woman (or man, for that matter) who can't keep her nose cleaned out. No bats in the cave at JS Inc.!

Oh come now, we're being a little harsh aren't we.

High end really is nothing but price. Take sharkman's XEZO for example (and I'm sure that he wishes someone would). If you present that to someone who had no clue what constituted a high end watch (I can't think of anyone right now, but you guys will probably have someone in mind) and told them that it cost $30,000 despite having a generic movement because it was such an exclusive and unusual watch (I mean let's face it, it's far rarer than a common or garden Rolex or PAM) then they would automatically claim that it was indeed high end and try to buy it from Tom.

It really does take all sorts to make the world

You do have a good point there, and from a certain price point on, all that would usually be seen as a shortcoming will be regarded as a gently treasured, traditional mark of originality (think Rolex no-AR glare for instance). So much so, that the manufacturer of the piece concerned would be pretty remiss to correct them...

Just goes to show how emotional the whole topic is... We do part with our money quite easily, but once we do, we sort of feel the need to love every aspect of what we spent it on.

It is completely devoid of reason, but somehow that's how we work...
Something quite primeval about that.
