I’m absolutely shocked that someone on this forum mentioned Tag as a high end watch as they have so many $500-$1,000 pieces.

Man, you're easily shocked. Try finding out that your date is packing heat...then you'll really know what it means to be shocked.

I am far from well off btw, but for arguments sake let’s say I am a billionaire, well then shouldn’t my perception of “high end” be different than the average blue collar worker? .

It should?? Only if you're a materialistic fool.

I agree with everything RJ has said including Tag can be considered high end.

It's not about being a "materialistic fool" but being able to afford and enjoy the finer things in life (again, I am not purporting to be well off but just making a point). As many Tag's range from $500-$1,000 then by your definition I guess everything except Fossil, Invicta and Swatch are high end. I hope one day you'll be able to afford a watch that I mentioned earlier as high end then you'll understand.

???? I understand perfectly well, you're clueless.

I've found watches that are signifincantly less expensive than the ones you listed, that are just as 'high end.' Maybe when you experience some watches other than a watch box full of Breitlings then I'll listen to you.

That's a bit like telling Charlie Sheen that you hope he can eventually hook up with a really hot woman so he will understand why so many people like sex.

My definition of high end only includes a few such as AP, Patek Phillipe, Hublot, Vacheron Constatin and others in that price range. To me Panerai (and definitely Breitling) is not high end, and thus not a status symbol. I have a watch that has titanium, carbon fiber and other nicer materials and I think it is a high end watch, but the brand as a whole is not. This goes for Breitling too, just because they have some pieces over $10k, or even a few really expensive pieces made with gold doesn't make it a high end brand. And this is my personal opionion, if we are back to talking about the average person who spents $1,000 on a watch and thinks that is a lot then maybe everything above the $1,000 is high end.

you must roll with some serious players  . i dont think that you will catch too many people that will say that they need a watch that is more than a few hundred dollars. so to most anything over that price point is considered high end. you clearly live in a bubble.

edit

i dont know what to say to this except LMFAO!! :uplaugh: :uplaugh: :uplaugh: :uplaugh: . listen buds if you have owned a quarter of some of the watches Serge has had you would have fulfilled what some WIS could only dream of.

ah the internet.......there really is a place on here for everyone

Oh come now, we're being a little harsh aren't we.

High end really is nothing but price. Take sharkman's XEZO for example (and I'm sure that he wishes someone would). If you present that to someone who had no clue what constituted a high end watch (I can't think of anyone right now, but you guys will probably have someone in mind) and told them that it cost $30,000 despite having a generic movement because it was such an exclusive and unusual watch (I mean let's face it, it's far rarer than a common or garden Rolex or PAM) then they would automatically claim that it was indeed high end and try to buy it from Tom.

It really does take all sorts to make the world

You business address is public record. Your receptionist could be signing for a mystery package from Arizona when you least expect it.

Excellent news, I can think of a Canada based collector of 'high end' watches who would pay a small fortune for such an exclusive piece

My Breitlings are a fraction of my watch collection.

I'll stick to my watches, and you stick to your "high end" Tag's and everyone will be happy.

I cant see a PAM being much a status/snob symbol simply because the average person has no clue what a Panerai is.

Totally agree. When I had a Pam I would get a ton of looks at work and people would ask what is that??? Very few people know what a Panerai is, a lot of people who know nothing about watches know a Rolex.

Yup, and that's why I love Panerai! :D (Rolex as well)

I am sure your watch collection puts mine to shame. But frankly, I could not care less about the size of your collection or the size of
anything else of yours. Can we please stop the testosterone games, this is getting tedious.
