Hi:

I'm new to the list and I was wondering if anyone had a suggestion to help me with a problem. I've had an aerospace for about 18 years and love it. The Titanium band has a problem with the spring and I was wondering if there was onsite repair available anywhere near New Haven CT. OR if I could order a new spring for the band from Breitling. I don't want to ship the watch to Breitling because I don't want to be without it.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Dave Dorfman

If it's 18years old it is probably the old style bracelet they don't make anymore.. might not be able to repair it unless they use a "DIY" method.

At any rate.. where on the bracelet is there a spring?

There is a spring on the clasp that retracts the slack of the band. This is a nice feature, but the second time the spring has worn out. It's directly under the outer shell of the clasp, under the word Breitling. The spring itself is kind of odd. it's like a zig zag line that compresses and expands. [/img]

I spoke with them today and they were of little or no help, they want me to ship the watch to them ( or drive 60 miles) and don't want to send me the tiny little part for local installation. This seems like very poor customer service for a company that sells such an expensive product.

I'm not surprised... most watch companies will not sell you small parts like that. From what watchmakeress told me you need a special "Parts Account" for even the watchmakers at the Autherized Dealers to get a hold of the parts. Its not because of poor customer service, they don't want just anyone to be able to get parts for their watches.

Now we are getting to the heart of my question, how would I find a local watch shop that might have a parts account with Breitling? Breitling wants me to send the watch, and I don't want to. I'd rather have it done locally while I wait.

According to the Breitling website there are ADs in Fairfield, Farmington, Greenwich, Uncasville and West Hartford. I would call whichever is closest to you and see if they can help.

Hi Paul L:

I would really appreciate it if you had an extra spring. How would I arrange an exchange with you?

There are some used ones on eBay. When searching include Germany and Spain in your searches, if you need links just reply. Thanks

I've participated in various older posts like warning of dials on eBay, excessive price for pro diver or King Hussien crazy priced ones. If anyone searches for answers (search tab) will most certainly be happy to see it there. :o
