Haven't seen one of those in a very long time!

It's a mid 80s piece called the Breitling Cup. No idea why it was called that as it clearly is marked yachting on the dial. Also not sure why it used the throwback Breitling logo on the dial as this was a 'modern' Breitling piece produced post the ownership change.

There is a page of the different variations in the 1985 catalogue on the site, page 8 - http://www.breitlingsource.com/books_1985.shtml

It's not particularly valuable, these early quartz movements are now obsolete so eventually the watch becomes a paperweight unfortunately.

and TransOcean for women - odd that they would make a gender distinction with two iconic names in the 80s, but then they did some wierd things in that decade!

I haven't seen these come up for sale recently but guessing that they aren't worth more than a few hundred bucks - but a replacement strap / bracelet won't cost that much if that's all that's wrong with it. If and when the movement fails then you can find replacement movements in donor watches, but recognise that they will be just as old as the one that they replace.

I bought this one last year non-running. Movements still available and cost about $20. The last two of these I saw sell were between $800-$1500. Not often seen.

Those are quite cool, the bezel looks like a boats wheel too, befitting it's Yachtmaster name!

Except that it's called a Cup.

The only rationale that I could think of was perhaps the name Cup is some sort of nod to the America's Cup ... although that is sailing and not yachting. Who knows ... the 80s were a crazy time!
