I was tempted by this watch as the seller is local to me and it looks like a fantastic price. After a bit of research however, I'm almost convinced it's a fake. I'd like a second opinion though before I report it.

Thanks!

Yes fake, as are 99% all the other Breitlings on Gumtree.

Thanks, I'll notify Gumtree and get it taken down.

The listing has been deleted from Gumtree. That's pretty fast. I have to admit, Gumtree are usually good about taking things down.

Really!? I have tried reporting fakes on there in the past but found it futile. The site is completely blighted by fake junk so it is the last place on earth I would look for a (real) Breitling. In fact, this experience of Gumtree has been so unpleasant I wouldn't buy anything off there.

It's true there's a vast amount of fake junk on the site but thankfully most of it is priced to reflect that and doesn't get mistaken for the real thing. I've never bothered reporting that stuff, it would be like trying to hold back the tide. The worrying pieces are priced as if they were the real thing. I've reported a few of them and they have always disappeared within a couple of hours.

I know there is at least one genuine Breitling on Gumtree - because I'm selling it!

From a sellers perspective Gumtree also has it's risks. I've had plenty of people keen to buy my Navitimer who don't ask any questions about the watch, actually they don't seem interested in it. One guy asked me if my guitar was still available and when he found out it was a watch offered to pay by Paypal straight away! All they care about is paying by Paypal (and presumably doing a chargeback after they have received the watch).
