Thinking about picking up a no date Submariner. What are your general thoughts on the model? It checks all by boxes, but looking for opinion. Thanks!

Classic, clean and timeless would probably sum it up.

I have thought about that watch many times in the past. For me, I just need that date on the watch, so its a no go. Other than that looks great!

I love the old 5513s and the 14060s... clean... no frills... classic... BUT...

personally I would die of boredom... but still have it on my list... can't justify paying new price for it but plenty of nice pre-owned ones out there for reasonable prices...

I have to agree with you there. As I said above, classic, timeless, etc, but just not very interesting IMO. Still, for a "one watch to last a lifetime" it's hard to think of a more suitable candidate.

Great watch, assuming we're talking about the 114060. I personally prefer a date, but if its not something youre interested in, the no date is a damn fine watch.

agree with RJ. if its the 114060 its a no brainer. personally i dont mind not having a date function. this version of the sub is the cleanest diver watch i have seen to date. its a great piece and IMO you cant go wrong.

I'm with others here - a great watch if you don't need a date function. I do need one, so I personally would go with the Sub-C Date. If I didn't need (or want) one, I would have no qualms about the no-date model (114060). Plus, the additional symmetry of the lume pattern on the no-date is a nice bonus.

Well that was easy...

Personally I prefer the two-liners but looks great nonetheless. Congrats! Looks great on you

That makes sense in aesthetic terms, but do you actually prefer a non-certified watch to a certified one?

Well... Good question...

For the sake of aesthetics probably yeah... I'd still go with a two. I say two because I like the uncluttered look on the sub without the extra writing and my love for vintage looks. I've always had a soft spot for a nicely patina'd 5513 feet first.

Certified or not doesn't really make or break a deal for me. But always a plus if it's accurate. I probably wouldn't notice too much anyway because I don't wear a piece for more than a day anyway with a rotation.

Aside from the fact that one has gone through the certification process and one hasn't, is there any appreciable difference between a certified and non-certified Sub? Did Rolex tighten up the tolerances on movements they intended to have certified, or did the movements remain the same, making certification just a formality?
