Not entirely surprised that there is a fairly good one of these - the newer models have been faked pretty well up to this point. I think that this looks 'better' because it is the first one that we have seen - but now that we know what to look for it will be easier. Of course the generation 2 fake will be along in a couple of months and if recent experience is anything to go by it will be close to perfect.

My ipod takes bad photos but will do my best, I would think Tourneau has this model. At least Tourneau can be good for something.

if one would compare the bezel to a gear with reference to the shape of the 'teeth', the bottom land, circular pitch and flank are also wrong. Adding to that the issues Roff pointed out... the bezel is soooo wrong.

thank you for confirming our suspicions, but we still have that "11" serif issue !

assuming you still have your SO44 and have not flipped it, would you please
set the date to "11" and post a pic of this ?

thanks !

The mystery is solved finally! I went to Tourneau next to my office and indeed there are serifs only on 11. When I get home I will upload a couple pics. The sales lady even took the plastic off the crown and changed the date for me.

To muddy the waters even more, here is the Ebay listing of the OP watch with what looks like some legit papers.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Breitling-Sup ... 131wt_1130

Although I initially called this as real, Fred, Roff and Falcon have swayed me to the fence.

Papers definitely look real, but can't get past that bezel. Would be interesting to see if the numbers match.

Hi,

Long time lurker first time poster here.

I wondered if anyone considered that the OP may be testing the experts thereby finding out if their fakes are good enough to get past you lot.

Tricky first post but I thought I should point out that these types of threads may be assisting the baddies. I hope I'm not teaching anyone to suck eggs.

I look forward to writing some more positive posts soon.

Just my 2p. (UK for 2c.)

If they can make a fake so perfect, no one could tell the difference, when would you stop calling it a fake?

I mean, they have an authentic one to reference, so one must assume any differences that exist between the authentic and the replica are present for other reasons than they didn't know how the specs on the real one.

Here are the photos, the pictures aren't clear, I took them with an iPod, but the 1's only in the 11 have a serif, the others do not. Also, for the record, it is a completely odd feeling ask the saleslady to change the date. My response was I want the model with the serifs, then had to explain what that was.

Here is a picture of the date set to 11.

Here is the picture with the date at 12, you can't see it clearly, but there is no serif.

It's happened before, but what are we supposed to do?

Ignore them and let poor suckers get conned? This forum is remarkably good at spotting fakes and while one or two may have slipped through you would be amazed at what people catch.

I am a real person looking to buy a real Superocean not trying to get scammed of $3,000. Maybe your first post should be a Little more friendly and not so accusational.

I think you mean accusatory and I don't think that was his intention. He was simply pointing out that it's a possibility.

Hi Superocean2,

:uhmmm:

I'm looking for this model also so that is why I was drawn to your thread so absolutely no offence intended and definitely none taken.

You did start another thread asking the same question re another watch of the same model which also turned out to be a fake here:

viewtopic.php?f=9&t=39064

- I wouldn't place any bets on the horses soon as it looks like you are a bit unlucky at the moment.

Good luck with the search - sure seems to be a lot of fake SO44 :lingsrock: out there and this great site should help keep us all out of danger.
