For me it's gotta be the IWC -- that's what a watch is supposed to look like.

How is your new addition coming along? Any ideas JN?

I decided to stay with the 3 I have and then add the Datejust 2 later this year. I'll see how it is with 4 watches and then go from there. I think my watch ADD just hit a high with my trip to Govberg.

I'll be one of the few who picks the TT GMT. I actually really like both of these watches, but I personally would only wear the IWC when dressing up. If this was a 5th or 6th watch in your collection then I might vote IWC, but if it is going to be part of a 2 watch collection then I would want to be able to get the most use out of each watch.

That said...I would pick the 116613LB (TT blue sub) over the GMT. I think that is the best looking TT in their line up.

I agree with John, having owned both. The two tone Rolex is just more versatile. But you have to be comfortable with the color of the bezel numbers in the GMT since they predominate the bezel more than on a Sub. The pic here doesn't really represent the true color of the numbers, they are more yellow. But IMO nobody does two time better than Rolex and their yellow gold is richer than other brands I've looked at.

I'd look at some JLCs as well, something like the Master Chronograph, Master Georgraphic, or even the Master Calendar. You could look at a VC Overseas Automatic as well.

I should have mentioned I am looking at second hand pricing and need to stay under the $8500 mark if possible. That is a stretch for all of these but definitely possible with the two I have already marked.

As for JLC...the ones I have tried on are really sweet, but they seem a bit thin and maybe too dressy for a one of two watch. Maybe I should head back and check them out because in this class of watch they can compete with anybody.

The Master Compressor Chrono can be had brand new for around $8500, and obviously used for much less. On bracelet, I think its a nice all purpose option.

The JLC is a beautiful piece, though maybe a bit large if you'd like the option of tucking it below your shirt sleeve. I like the idea above of a pre-owned VC Overseas. I tried one of those on and it is a bit like my AP, a simple watch but so beautifully executed it draws your attention nonetheless.

I would really like to get JLC in the mix, but their sport watches dont quite fit the bill for a primarily work watch, an their dressier pieces dont have the heft I am looking for. I really like the reverso line but with a two watch rotation it isnt as versatile as even the 5001.

I had not thought about a VC, as I honestly thought they would be priced way out of my league, looking to stay around $8500, but I may have to look into the Overseas.

Thanks for all the insight fellas

Just checked over on that awful site ending in bay. There were a couple Overseas like I tried on in the 9 range. If you like the look, might have to wait for one closer to what you want to pay but Govberg's has/had one where you might get close. Justin might know better than I.

That watch wears great. I tried it on a couple of weeks ago and was surprised at how comfortable it was. The bracelet was amazing on it as well.

Can the VC OC be worn with an strap? From the pics it looks like an integrated bracelet.

I checked out the VC site for kicks this morning (and because my wife and daughter are watching something on the Lifetime channel) and there is a strap, but it may only be for a titanium model. I suspect Justin can get an answer from George at Govberg.

Regarding the Reverso, did you see the piece that Altair is selling, with dual dials in black and white? Pretty sure it was on a strap but I'd be very surprised if you couldn't also get a bracelet for it. Granted, a pretty unique piece for a two-watch collection but that's probably as versatile a Reverso (unless you want the size of the sport model) as there is.

Nope, confirmed it with George. The VC Overseas "Deep Stream" does come on a strap however.
